I forgot to ask him if he was Jerry Logan.

Based on every other response, would it have mattered?

Here's what I posted to Rob on my forum (Vegascasinotalk, the one mentioned at the end of the video):

I'm under the impression any casino can provide copies of past W2Gs, don't know how long they have access. All it takes is some phone calls to find out(if they were open).

I have tax returns going back to 1991, for what it's worth.

Just because you don't file a return for a refund, it doesn't mean you didn't pay the IRS in the first place.

Is Gambling Income Taxable?
The answer is yes, but the good thing about gambling tax law for big winners is that, unlike income taxes, gambling taxes are not progressive. Whether you win $1,500 at the slot machine or $1 million at the poker table, the tax rate you owe on your gambling winnings is 24% (previously 25%). When you win a big slot machine jackpot, the casino is required to withhold the 24% itself when you claim your prize; it also provides you with an IRS form, called a W2-G, to report your winnings to the government.

True dat. It's basically an alt-right forum under a gambling veneer. The only excuse I'd make for Todd is that he may not perceive at as such. Echo chambers are a b****.

Yeah, Shackleford looks good!

Finally watched it. Let me run down my limited experience doing interviews first. I was a journalism/science writing guy in college and worked for newspapers in high school, college, and a year beyond. I did maybe a couple dozen interviews and have been interviewed I think three times myself regarding the sports gig. I would absolutely defer to Alan Mendelson's opinions on the nature of the interview and how maybe it should have been constructed and executed. Would like to hear from him, as he has more experience than the entire forum here combined, probably.

I understand Axelwolf's problems with the interview, but I have to say, I think Shackleford did a pretty damn good job just winging it in the time frame allowed. I was never any good at extemporaneous interviewing. I needed a legal pad with notes going in and a flow chart in my head set for the interview, even for small stuff like guys bagging record bears or something. So I thought Shackleford did a real good job managing the info he was getting, and going into some things without being adversarial, and focusing on details and then getting out of those details into broader topics. I thought "Singer" himself, for the most part, did a good job with a few exceptions. I have a couple of initial observations. I'll let some other stuff percolate and comment on that later.

First, in terms of self-presentation, I pretty much bought what "Singer" was saying. He came across as personable and believable.

Second, just because I bought it may not count for much. When I saw "Singer's" Mendelson interviews regarding the systems "Singer" uses, I thought the same thing -- namely that he came across as personable and knowledgeable...to a civilian. I knew enough, however, about basic video poker and math to understand it was voodoo nonsense. So my judgement of the Mendelson stuff was not affected by the reasonableness, shall we say, of "Singer's" self-presentation.

Thus, since I know absolutely nothing about the double up bug, I am just a civilian, and I am allowing my lack of knowledge to take the lead in the kind of impact the video has on me. If "Singer" said something obviously wrong, I simply would not know it, and I would be going mainly on his self-presentation which is, of course, not what one should do.

Therefore my first take is that the self-presentation seemed to match the Mendelson interviews, which turned out to be based on bogus. I would like to hear from Mendelson on this, if he thinks that's the case.

So, I thought the interview was pretty professional, and similar to interviews a local paper might conduct with someone with whom they were not being adversarial.

Having said all that, there were a number of sizable problems, but I need to think about them some more.

Howard Barish is the managing editor of Gaming Today, by the way, if anyone wants to verify the "Singer" apology to GT. I would have assumed "Singer" would have apologized to the people who printed the misdirection columns, Eileen Di Rocco for one. Contacting the current new owners to apologize for something you did to the former owners is almost like a dipping of the toe to see if maybe they might be interested in your new story.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Whether Shackleford did it on purpose or not, the pushing of the interview to a time not expected by "Singer" is a pretty smart move. It puts a hitch in the giddyup of anyone who might be prepping a lot for it. Throws them off a tad. Makes them wing it more than maybe they had planned.

The question for the poll is what do you think of Rob Singer?

you are initiating an inquiry regarding Rob Singer and his various claims of winning and winning systems
your intention as I understand it is to determine if his various claims are legitimate or not

MDawg's claims are far more outrageous than Singer's and are far more potentially damaging to compulsive gamblers many of whom are likely to think that they can do something similar to what he claims

the interest in MDawg across gambling message boards is way, way, way greater than the interest in Rob Singer

yet you seem to have no interest in performing an inquiry into his outrageous claims

how come?
