My better wins from my latest trip, 5/2-5/6. The royal was at Gold Coast. I played $41440 coin-in on this machine, 65-35 split between 3 and 5 play. The dealt deuces was at Red Rock, on my 3rd hand ever at that casino. We stopped in on our way back from red rock canyon for lunch, and for some free play for signing up for their card. I spent about 20 minutes looking for FPDW, and couldn't find it, so I plopped down on this machine to play 5-10 hands. The DDB progressive Aces were at Sams Town.

This makes 7 royals for me in my last 3 trips! I've been incredibly lucky.

Nice hits!

It took me awhile to find the FPDW at Sam's too. It's across from the buffet. There are signs publicizing it paying back > 100% near the bank as well.

Edit: realized you were looking for them at Red Rock. I thought they were near the front entrance. But I didn't actually play them because I wanted to play dream card spin poker instead. Better that you ended up playing 5 play anyway it looks like.

Here's a recent jackpot of mine from vulturing high-limit Multi-Streak Poker at an East Coast casino.

A previous player left about $60 in equity on this machine. I put a $31 voucher in, got lucky and won $1,560.00.

Nice hit, but not even close to my best Ultimate X wonging jackpot.

I finally got it in Diamonds. $1,000. I plan to post the picture later.

I was at a café and just stuck $5.00 playing Jokers (awful paytable) for nickels because I was in the mood for a cappuccino, I ran it up to $10, said, "Hell with it," and switched to quarters. It hit only a few hands into playing quarters, trying to play down to a multiple of 100 credits (or up) I also hit a Wild Royal.

The other night I was sitting next to an older (~70) lady playing vp. She was playing $1 and losing so she started betting $2 and hit a RF for $500. Not sure why she didn't just drop the denomination down to 50 cents and bet $2.50. Sure would have paid better! She didn't seem to be at all bothered that she basically left $3,500 on the table! She was basically happy to get back even for the night which I can understand.

Isn't that the truth! The $1,000 is always helpful, of course, but really is secondary to finally hitting that Royal.

Congrats mission! I remember my first royal I ever hit. I was playing nickels full pay LDW on one of those optimum play machines and swapping action with my buddy while waiting for a drawing. So I finally hit it but it was only for $100. I was part of a share of a royal before that though. It was my same buddy that ended up hitting it at the sidebar. Then I hit 7 royals in quick succession after hitting my first royal including two on the same day. One on quarters and one on dollars.

this is my first royal, about a year ago after nearly 200k hands iirc. Was such an awesome feeling. The only reason I was playing was I just finished up a poker tournament at 3am and wanted a few minutes before I drove home.

Thanks, everyone!

At least I can sit down at a VP game now and not lament every single missed draw knowing sooner-or-later it will happen again. You really start to question whether or not you'll ever hit that Royal until you finally do. I think it was probably the eighth greatest day of my life, actually, that's still technically today for nine more minutes.

Is AcKc the correct hold there when playing the actual game itself? Because of the 5x multiplier for a flush?

Casinos can set the lockup at any amount they want. it doesn't have to be taxable for a lockup. I have seen smaller casinos set it at $400 so that they know when someone is hitting.

Yeah you're still under, but definitely a lot closer than you were. Average is about 1 in 40,000. I wish I could experience average. Going on 21 months now, bah. But playing a quick quads machine and not playing quick quads? Blasphemy!

Maybe they realized it was a waste of time for it to lock up at 1000 and they recently changed the settings.

I doubt it since you'll only make a flush about 1% of the time. But I could be wrong. Deuces is the only game JB never put the strategy out for. I personally wouldn't have held AK suited

I knew you would be the one to catch that. I actually have a good reason. I like to bounce between job, bonus, and ddb. The pay table on the qq is better on the DDB than it is on a stand alone.

If it makes you feel any better I also bounce between the qq as well. I won't bore you with my playing strategy but it involves switching between using buttons, the screen, different games, and the speed setting. It's not that I feel it changes anything but it keeps me paying attention and not getting bored over 2 hours of play.

I agree. Playing on a slow speed is torture to me. The only time I slow down the game is on 50/100 play when I am dealt 4 to the royal I turn off the turbo button. I know it is silly, but I do like to watch those hands come in.

Help me understand something. If it stands to reason that the player is more likely to play with (and lose back) credits that are already in the machine than they are to rebuy, wouldn't the casino want to do as few handpays as they can legally get away with? For comparison, a $100 bonus on a table game is more likely to get paid with twenty red chips than one black chip, since the player is more likely to play with the red chips.

That is very true. With me having 4000 credits I took a $100 shot at $1 JOB, if there was a hand pay I would not have put that in there.

Bored was a bad choice of words. I just like to give myself variety. Besides I am playing games that are not the best pay tables so slowing myself down a little makes my money last a little longer.

There are a few reasons that casinos might do this.

It can help them identify players that are winning and then they can give them some personal attention (ie. A host introduction, maybe give them a food comp so they stick around).

It may help them to identify cheaters or malfunctioning machines. In the old days if someone was cheating or the machine had a problem the attendants would notice because they would have to keep replenishing the coins in the hopper.

And let's not forget superstition. If you machine is hot and paying you some jackpots, it would be good to slow the player down until the machine cools off.

Personally, i always set them at the $1200 taxable limit.

I forgot which machines or casinos specifically, but I noticed at the shops in south-west of LV (Primm, Gold Strike(?), etc. area), require a hand-pay to cash out. Other machines where you can cashout a ticket, may have low hand-pay thresholds. I can't think of any reason for doing this, other than what DRich said, or maybe because the machines are super old?
