Have you ever heard of New Jersey referred to as the western suburb of Manhattan? I have not. Certainly not by someone who lives there.

No. But that is how I think of Teaneck.

I thought he was referring to Manhattan, Kansas! Grew up in Queens. New Jersey might have been referred to as a suburb of NYC, not Manhattan. But if thatís how he wants to refer to where he lives, who am I to stop him?

The western suburbs of Manhattan? Does such a place exist in the real world?

Woke isn't just for social issue awareness any more.

You haven't posted in over 2 years. I hope it was something I said.

No, Spike, it was nothing you said, unfortunately.

Oh, it was one year, not two

Grew up in Queens. New Jersey might have been referred to as a suburb of NYC, not Manhattan.

Where I grew up, NYC referred to Manhattan..."New York" or "The City".

The rest of it was called the boroughs.

Didn't folks in Queens say it the same way?

I appreciate the kind acknowledgement of my participation.

You originally replied to my initial post within 30 minutes,
and now again 2 days later...are you trolling me?

That wasn't very welcoming.

I live in the western suburbs of Manhattan,
I can't recommend any interesting places out where you are now.

Currently the adventures of of my children and grandchildren
are what I find most interesting.

I would recommend that you find a traveling companion,
I get the impression that you are lonely.

Just keepin it REAL.

You are right
It wasn't welcoming
I apologize
Unlike that other thread
I want to keep things positive
No suspensions from this thread and that's a good thing.
You and I know life is short and you might as well smile and dance away our remaining years
I'm not lonely
Simply a loner with many close friends around the country and world.
Just spent the afternoon with a buddy I have not seen in 40 years.
Be posting more REAL adventures and hope you will read. Just had a wonderful adventure today. Will post later. Close FB friends come 1st.

Yes.... the boroughs. That was Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island. But New Jersey near 'the city' was never a borough. It was always a 'suburb of New York City' Never once heard it referred to as a suburb of Manhattan. And never heard it referred to as a 'borough'. Because it is NOT a borough!

Relax...I was talking about the rest of NYC, not NJ.

Another member replied "No." while you replied "Yes" to the same question,
does that mean that one of you is lying?

Yet it's been said so many times.

Q) Where do you live?
A) Alpine, NJ
Q) Where's that?
A) It's a western suburb of Manhattan.
