PRIZE UPDATE

First of all, thanks to everyone for participating this year. It was a smaller crowd, but turnout was pretty faithful among those who said they were in.

I appreciate the congratulations received. It was a very lucky year for me (after finishing in a tie for it all last year, but getting third place based on percentage points).

A special thanks to Unjon, who compiled the official standings each week, and to GordonM888, who received my picks.

Here is what was listed in the prize structure at the beginning of the year:

Cost: $30 ($25 to the prize pool, $5 to the perfection pool).
Entry fee is $30, but not payable until the end of the season. Everyone plays on the honor system. Once you play a week, however, you are in!

Depending on entrants, top 2 or 3 get paid. Perfect entries throughout the season will share a pool (explained below)

SUGGESTED PRIZES (with two paid):
First place: Collects $25 from each place 5 thru the bottom
Second place: Collects $25 from 3rd and 4th place and doesn't pay.
No prizes currently for 50 percent or last place (subject to discussion).
This is not a get rich pool, but a fun pool with a small prize fund. I am contributing zero dollars (other than my entry)

PERFECTION BONUS:
Perfect weekly entries will split the pool from the $5 left from each entry fee.

Since there was no further discussion, we are going to go with that prize structure, with one modification that involves me donating a little bit.

Second place will receive the money from two participants and not pay (that is the same).

First place will receive the money from all other participants and not pay (that is the same)

Perfection bonus will be a flat $10 per perfect entry. To date, we have had 13 perfect entries. If we just calculated the split, it would be $6.15 per perfect entry and that would be a nightmare to figure out who gets what from whom. So rather than them splitting $80, they are splitting $130 (or more if someone is perfect today).

At the end of today, I will list the amounts due from each person and designate the two people who are to pay their entry fees to second place

I will also list my payment information at that time.

This makes sense to me (but if it doesn’t to anyone else, let me know ASAP).

I’m off to a grand start this week by calling everything wrong about Saturday games except a bizarre back door push on Steelers.

The Bengals (-2.5) was the only part of my six-team parlay yesterday that didn't hit. Cost me $1,200.

Apologize for not submitting picks for the past two weeks. Life was busy, then I cornered myself into a four day self-suspension from the forum that limited me to submitting week 17 picks only on this Sunday - and I overslept today and missed the window for submission. Oh well, nothing lost - I was extremely mediocre this year.

I need to come up with an alternate solution for next year in case someone gets suspended again. I'd hate for the pool to be decided on that possibility.

I think I got this straight. I owe my $30 entry fee. I am owed $30 for my 3 perfect weeks. I am giving this info to my tax accountant to work out that complicated calculation.
