It's the same pick, not conflicting picks. I believe the under hit, which means your confidence pick would be voided (worst possible outcome). It's not counted as a loss, and it was a first time occurrence. A repeat offense would result in losses, similar to taking a second skip week.
If I'm reading wrong and it lost, then both losses play.
Any objections from the players?

Seems like an honest mistake. Not sure why 2 different numbers were used in the UN bets (45.5 and 43.5).
No big deal to me since it's the first offense.

I think the way that Mission would have handled it was to rule the 2-unit Confidence pick was in play but that the 1 unit duplicate pick was an automatic loss.
Open to discussion. . . .

Oh, my bad it did hit.
I believe I used two different numbers because I was trying to do the under for a different game, but I’m not sure. I banged out the picks quickly as I was traveling that day.

We used to insist that contestants had to make an upfront payment of $25 to a moderator, who then made payments to the winners at the end of the contest. A couple of years back Mission decided to put this on the honor system and allow payments at the end of the contest -which has opened us up to people disappearing and welching on the contest.
We also used to have a rule that contestants had to be known forum members -also to guard against this kind of welching.

I like that rule. Not full-proof, but one step closer in that direction.

Mission never handled the money. Originally and for years, $25 entry fees were sent to BeachBumBabs, an established forum moderator. Babs handled the payments at the end of the contest. Payments in and out were usually handled as Amazon gift cards or Paypal transfers according to the preference of the contestant.
When Babs became inactive, Mission converted to the system of direct payments by the contestants to the various winners after the contest was over.
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

I'm obviously not playing this year, but as a former contest winner, I'll offer my $0.02.Quote: gordonm888We used to insist that contestants had to make an upfront payment of $25 to a moderator, who then made payments to the winners at the end of the contest. A couple of years back Mission decided to put this on the honor system and allow payments at the end of the contest -which has opened us up to people disappearing and welching on the contest.
We also used to have a rule that contestants had to be known forum members -also to guard against this kind of welching.

I won in 2019, which I believe was the first year of the "honor system." Just about everyone either paid or made arrangements very promptly. Hoverer, there was one individual who never paid.
I think that this caused some participants who were concerned about the possibility of welching to not play in subsequent contests. Although it is a burden to the Mod who is charged with having to escrow the entry fees, I think it makes for a better game overall.
Note that my absence this year was for personal reasons (nothing major -- just other obligations). I hope to be back for next year's contest.
