2024 WOV Picks Game Discussion Thread

The last 2 years, I've been keeping track of how the group's picks have done depending on the number of players making the pick.
The data the last 2 years have shown some predictive value:
1. Fade picks made by greater than 50% of the players. 9 - 6 (60%) over the last 2 years.
2. Tail picks made by greater than 33% of the players up to and including 50% of the players. 36 - 28 - 3 (56.3%) over the last 2 years.
3. Fade picks made by greater than 25% of the players up to and including 33% of the players. 43 - 58 - 4 (57.4%) over the last 2 years.
That's a total of 103 - 77 - 6 (57.2%) over the last 2 years. About 5 picks a week on average.
For this year, the number of players would be as follows for the groups above:
Note: these numbers will change next week as we have 16 players now.
I kept these numbers for Weeks 1 - 4 because of skip weeks and I'm lazy.

2. 4 - 5 players on a pick: FADE
3. 6 - 7 players on a pick: TAIL

Nice! I enjoy playing on words, and you played on numbers! Whenever I hear the Chicago song, 25 or 6 to 4, I think, “I’m going to look up the meaning later…”, and I never have until now. Thanks for the reminder!

Whenever I think I know something on which team to bet on I get brought down to earth quickly.
Expert SOOPOO thinks Commanders are still underrated. And Ravens are good, but weren’t good enough to beat lowly Raiders. And were collapsing again against the undermanned Bills until McDermott actually tried to think.
So getting a full 7 points seems ‘too good to be true’.
It’s early enough in the season that I’m not worrying about exposing my picks. I wouldn’t do so in weeks 17 and 18.

Time to fall on my sword. Please ignore my previous posts about these. I have done a deeper dive and found a few errors in this year's picks.
I have updated my numbers and they are below. They still are not in line with the previous years, but that may be due to the fewer number of players this year than the previous 2. Plus, we're not even halfway through the season.
The last 2 years, I've been keeping track of how the group's picks have done depending on the number of players making the pick.
The data the last 2 years have shown some predictive value:
1. Fade picks made by greater than 50% of the players. 9 - 6 (60%) over the last 2 years.
2. Tail picks made by greater than 33% of the players up to and including 50% of the players. 36 - 28 - 3 (56.3%) over the last 2 years.
3. Fade picks made by greater than 25% of the players up to and including 33% of the players. 43 - 58 - 4 (57.4%) over the last 2 years.
That's a total of 103 - 77 - 6 (57.2%) over the last 2 years. About 5 picks a week on average.
For 2024 to date:
1. 1 - 2
2. 3 - 5
3. 11 - 13
Total: 15 - 20
I'd also like to point out that 4 of the losses were by 1 or a half point! Having many outs would mitigate this if you're using this in the real world.

The last 2 years, I've been keeping track of how the group's picks have done depending on the number of players making the pick.
The data the last 2 years have shown some predictive value: (this year, not so much!)
1. Fade picks made by greater than 50% of the players. 9 - 6 (60%) over the last 2 years.
2. Tail picks made by greater than 33% of the players up to and including 50% of the players. 36 - 28 - 3 (56.3%) over the last 2 years.
3. Fade picks made by greater than 25% of the players up to and including 33% of the players. 43 - 58 - 4 (57.4%) over the last 2 years.
That's a total of 103 - 77 - 6 (57.2%) over the last 2 years. About 5 picks a week on average.
For 2024 to date:
1. 1 - 2
2. 5 - 7
3. 12 - 16
Total: 18 - 25
I'd also like to point out that 4 of the losses were by 1 or a half point! Having many outs would mitigate this if you're using this in the real world.

Looks like I accidentally picked under twice in Bears/Commanders game. Once with confidence. Lol.
