Omaha Beach scratched. Derby in chaos.

So Mike Smith goes horseless for the Derby? Would Baffert really make the switch back to him on Roadster so close to race day?

Wow. The day Mike won on Roadster, Baffert offered him his choice of rides. I thought he would stay on Roadster.

I bet he bumps whoever.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

They won’t do that to Flo. It’s not good for
business. I believe they’d have to pay both jockeys if they did that.

I'm just here to brag. Placed a not insignificant 6,13 double (one horse per race) for races 10 and 11 today. Paid $26.40 for 1. Real value here. She, Serengeti Empress, paid 13 to 1 on the win bet and all I had to do is double with a "sure thing" World of Trouble in race 10 (win paid 1-5) to pretty much double the payout. Now I have a large cushion for tomorrow. Gotta love racing.

On a sad note, I won't be able to bet on Limousine Liberal tomorrow, he suffered a career ending injury yesterday.

Looks like the forecast is for rain today. Race may go to a mudder like Maximum Security.
The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong; but that is the way to bet.

I understand and agree that there was a foul. You can't do that. At the same time, did it really affect the outcome of the race? I don't think so. I lost either way, so I'm not arguing it from that POV.

There was a big horse race this past weekend? :)

WOW
War of Will is the most interesting 3yo right now for me out of the race. Tyler G. (jockey on WoW) just needed to wait a couple more strides behind Max Security and the golden rail would have opened up for him down the lane. He had horse left to make a run but he tipped out a little to soon and the decision did not work out. WoW really had the dream trip until the far turn into a slowish pace through 6 furlongs. If you watch the replay (and look at the chart of the race) Code of Honor was gifted the rail after WoW moved outside and Max Security drifted out. Code of Honor shot up the rail opening and actually made the lead in the race (only by a head). WoW could easily have been the winner, maybe... We will never know and the race is over. IMHO, I believe the Stewards made the correct call to DQ Max Security.

In watching the coverage and reading various articles on the race I have a couple of things to point out:
-Maximum Security was not the betting favorite, Improbable was.
-Maximum Security did not lead all the way around the track.
-Why do people say he was "much the best" or "clearly the best" when he actually impeded the nearest 3/4 runners to his outside on the far turn? (BTW, Max Security also bumped Code of Honor on the rail after Saez tried to correct course.
-I was shocked M. Casse and Tyler G. decided not to lodge an objection after the race. But 2 other jockeys did.
-How about Master Fencer's (Japenese horse) race in the Derby? From last (19th) to 7th (6th after DQ), boy was he really closing fast. Game Winner also was closing quickly from 18th to finish 6th (5th after DQ).

Derby Chart:

On to the Preakness.
Casse said WoW will be pointed towards the Preakness. He likely needed the race to build upon after a poor race in the LA Derby and the longish break between races. Country House may not even be the favorite in the Preakness, depending on who actually gets entered.
