Are there any decent (read big and comfy) books on the strip where we can watch the games from like a couch without paying a fee? I do not want to sit in some miserable straight backed chair for 3 hours.
Thanks in Advance.
Quote: VCUSkyhawkI was hoping I could get some info from either locals or people who have been to sports books in Vegas lately. I will be flying in on Saturday and my group wants to watch the games at a sportsbook on the strip (even though we are staying downtown). I know that many MGM and Ceasars properties have gone to a pay for reserved seating model.

Harrah's has booths and Mirage has various, cool seating arrangements. Both seem to be open a lot, and I've definitely sat in them without any special reservation or fee. Mirage would be my first choice if I knew for sure that seating would be available.
They are across the street from each other and close to TI which might be worth a shot as well, and the Venetian where parking is free.
Matters might be complicated by football, though. Everyone wants to be there at the same time.
The Trop is smaller but follows the standard Cantor model, which is a jigsaw of high def screens and big, comfy chairs, but using a traditional sportsbook format. i.e. the chairs are all in a row, behind individual screens. So it's not one of those deals where you have a little couch or nook. However, I'm pretty sure i've NEVER seen that book full, and they also have free parking.

That seems silly. In Nevada you can bet sports anywhere within the state if you set up a mobile account.
Quote: djatcIf you watch games after they already played it's super empty. Mondays after midnight usually is a good time
Do they allow you to bet on those games ?

I figure he means big book as in one with higher limits. You ever try betting on the Boyd app? It's like they're trying to win as little as they can.

I think he means a big and exciting venue. Glitz, glamour, in door plumbing.

Yeah, it is the first two out of the three for my brother.
Also, in reply to I believe DRich. No, it doesnt have to be a couch, it can be a comfy chair. Somebody had mentioned the Mirage and I do not find their chairs comfy at all. They are all mostly straight backed and I really dont want to sit like that for 3 hours or more.

I've not read about this. Can someone please explain if "pay" for seating in sports books has also been rolled out in Las Vegas in addition to "resort fees" and "parking"?
Thanks and regards.

Basically there are just little areas reserved for VIPs or people who rent them. It's often a package, including a few beers and maybe some snacks. You get to sit in a booth or a couch or something.
If anything, I'm in favor of it. It makes the book a little more profitable without taxing players.
