I have some observation and would like to share. Both Portugal and Spain have to score a lot just in case of tie breaker. So for this group play bet them to win and go over. Just my 2 cents.

It is my turn to RANT. F@@@ Messi is just a piece of SH*****. No more. No comparison to Ronlardo. Argentina is a crap team. Spain is way more skillful. Most likely Spain is the winner.

Hard to beleive the 4 favorites of the tourney (Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Germany) finished with 3 ties and one loss in their first game.

A fun bet would be that none of those 4 favorite teams will win the World Cup. My back of the envelope calc says fair odds would be about +120. That’s 6/5 or 2.2 for our foreign members.

Luckily in the UK they show both games on terestial TV (in this case BBC1 and BBC4). It was fascinating as both games went 1-1 at about the same time and also 1-2. How VAR affects games in the long run will be interesting as the Premier League (which I watch as a Saouthampton supporter) is not taking it on board this year but considering it for 2019/20.
I'm obviosuly looking forward to Thursday's (England) match.

VAR I would say is working, because it is only being used for a few plays AND the ref only stares at the TV screen for a FEW seconds, not the multiple minutes that the NFL does.

They, most online books anyhow, offer a straight money line bet where draws do not lose. It's known as "draw no bet". They also have a "double chance" when your side wins on a draw or a win. The odds of course are adjusted accordingly. Good luck.

The country that just got banned from the Olympics for doping, that constantly gets caught doping in every sport, is hosting the world cup and all of the sudden their players have way more stamina than anybody else.

It would be really easy. They are incentivized to do it now. Incentivize them to not do it with suspensions. Take a clear dive in the box, PK the other way.
Imagine being the guy who lost the WC for your team by going down like a girl. You'd see wayyyyyyyyy less of it.

He was fouled (tripped) on the play.
It is the embellishment (to draw a card) that is unacceptable and should be penalized.

I agree. Probably cancel out the foul or the foul stands and he gets a yellow.
When replays show no contact at all, you get a suspension.
When contact is minimal but not a foul, you get a warning. Next one suspension.
When you flagrantly fake a foul in the box to draw a pk, pk goes the other way.

For a year or so they did give a yellow card for a foul and a yellow card for "embelishment" on the same play, but that kind of disappeared.

I agree Neymar could/should have earned a penalty for his actions. His antics were very unsportsmanlike.

My "confusion" with these knock out games is with/between the "draw no bet" and "pass through". They play an overtime but I don't know if sudden death or a time certain period. Then of course penalty kicks. One line appears with a draw and I think it's full time(90min), not including overtime. No explanation on the site I just looked at...
So confusing and this might reflect Government involvement in gambling. Those in the USA please use caution when expressing your gumption about sports books nationwide.
