Trump's New Casino Law Will Wipe Out 40% of Slot Machines by December - Casino Royal
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRTsdXqowb8
Loose legacy machines from prior to 2019 will be pulled from the floors by July 1, 2026. RTP on older machines of 93% - 96% will lower down to 88% - 91% on newer machines. Legacy RNG architecture slot machines are being outlawed. Compliance Cascade coming, older casinos that built their slot list from before 2019 will lose 40% to 60% of their slot machines and they won't have replacements. New machines will be set for 91% to 92%, then after 90 days they will be lowered to 88% to 89%.
Tribal casinos are not subject to this law. Slots could be 3% to 6% better at tribal casinos than at commercial casinos.
Each slot machine cost $15K to $25K. Casinos that have to replace 100's or 1000's of the old machines and they may not have the tens of millions of dollars necessary for the switch over.

This sounds like nonsense.
The video mentions a "federal gaming license", but gaming licensure is a state matter so far as I know.
The references to players developing an intuition for which casinos are looser on which days doesn't bode well, either.

Not sure if this is because of slots being outlawed or just a general lack of foot traffic in the area over the last bit of time lately.

I think we all knew the Primm closures were coming back in December 2024. The wind-down takes some time, apparently 18 months in this case...

That is a shame. My first trip to Vegas was in 2001, and I took a bus trip to Primm. It was fully open at the time and fairly busy. I loved the roller coaster and the shopping outlets. The Arena at Buffalo Bills was an under-the-radar place to see some very good bands, and the Tex-Mex trio in the bar area was great.

Yeah been to Primm recently? It is as dismal a sight as I've seen in a gaming venue.
I think it's only selling point was letting compulsive gamblers driving from California get their fix an hour earlier than the ones who make it Vegas.

It's been a few years, and it was pretty bare at the time. I don't know much about Primm's history, but at some point, it must have been thriving to have built up the way it did. In the late 90s its roller coaster was world-class.
