Progressives versus Non Progressives.

It took me a while to realize this(until a fellow slotter pointed this out) but a slot with progressives generally pays crap in the normal games versus a game with no progressives to even it out.
For example,progressive Electric Boogaloo and Golden Peach have crappy payouts for their high paying symbols(The Dancing Queen in Electric Boogaloo only pays $2 for a full line and the Turntable only pays $1.50 for a full line. In Golden Peach, The Princess only pays $2.00 for a full line and The Peacock only pays $1.25 for a full line) On the other hand, you can get $40 on literally 1 cent on these games.
Compare this to the non progressive Treasures Of Troy. In Treasures Of Troy, Helen is $50 for a full line,(even on a penny)and The dark haired man and man with a helmet are both worth $20.

Over-Generalization.
I don't dispute that the Top Line Pays are as you say they are, but have you considered symbol frequency to also be a possible reason why?
Although, I will admit that what you are saying is likely true in some cases. That is, at least, if you look at two machines upon which the overall return is the same, but one is a Progressive and the other is not. You have Meter Move on the Progressive, of course, so if the two machines DID pay equally, the non-progressive would, by necessity, have superior returns on the overall line pays.
Overall, though, you should not underestimate the question of symbol frequency. In many cases, games with lower top line pays than others (assuming same bet amount) are that way because the top paying symbols, and therefore hits, are more likely.

Consider that if you have the identical game with the same long term payout percentage... but one has a progressive mechanism in it and one doesn't.... the one that doesn't have the progressive mechanism will pay higher on the regular game.
Easiest way to see this is on video poker... in almost every circumstance, the progressive paytable is lower for the full house by one unit. (sometimes the straight is lower by a unit as well).

I didn't say that the Slotter was in real life. The Slotter who said it was on the internet.

That's ridiculous. I've never met up with any players from here when in Las Vegas, even though I know there are some there. I do my thing when I'm there and have no interest in meeting new people. How does that affect anyone's credibility?
