You have a 5 reel machine. The frequency of the scatter on each reel is once every 40 spins. How many spins, on average, until the scatter appears on 3 of the 5 reels?

In excel =1/((1/40)^3*(39/40)^2*combin(5,2))

Actually, the scatter can appear in any position. Assuming the screen is 3 positions high, the number of spins would be:1/((3/40)^3*(37/40)^2*combin(5,2))
