So I recently saw an article that indicated the WSOP this year took 51 days spread across 68 events before the final table. That's a lot of time for a sport gaining so much popularity and traction. A couple of questions:

1.) How does anyone get enough vacation time to even be able to enter this? I get 3 weeks of vacation, used to be 4. If I were to do well in qualifiers, how do you handle all the logistics (room/board/job/family)?

2.) After a couple of days/rounds, how does the field shake out? Do you know ok, from being in the top 10,000, you are now top 2000 maybe (need to extend the hotel room). What does the schedule/elimination look like?

3.) I did a small tourney in Vegas, my first in a casino. It took forever!!!. I was told it typically last 5-8hrs. 2 hours later, my brain is shot, my chips are low, all in, and eliminated. How do you last 51 days?!

4.) Once you make it to the final table, everything is gravy. 1mm+ guaranteed more or less. Do you think you'd wind up quitting your job?

5.) It's lonely at the top. Would you keep going and starting entering more tournaments full time if you hit the final table? You've got to be good enough to get there. Luck, chance, randomness, and some skill.....

The Main Event doesn't take 51 days. There are 68 DIFFERENT tournaments over that 51 day span. The Main event is about 6 days at the end of the schedule which includes three day 1's. They play down to 9 players and then come back to play the final table in November.

FWIW, that same Final Table starts in 10 minutes on ESPN, runs the next 3 nights. MNF is on ESPN tomorrow night, so the 2nd night will be on ESPN2. 30 minute delay from live (to avoid giving the rail TMI I'm told).

I'm rooting for Max Steinberg. Again FWIW. Wish I could have afforded a piece of him.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.
