In casinos in Quebec, Mississippi Stud has a progressive jackpot you can bet on. But instead of being based on the 3 community cards, it's based on 3 extra cards that are revealed at the start, at the same time you look at your own cards. They don't impact the main game, so they are just extra information.
This is kind of like legal collusion with 1.5 players, and I was wondering how it impacts basic strategy and house edge. Obviously if my hand is A3 and the progressive flips AAA, I more than likely saved money by folding. But I'm not sure what to do in most cases.
Has anybody looked at this before?

Have to see if Victor from the Slot Lady channel has bothered to play this game while he was up there.

IN MStud you start with two cards. High cards are J-A, Medium cards are 6-T. Low cards are 2-5.
1) If you start with two cards that are H+L (such as J-2) you should normally play/bet 1X. But if you see a card amongst the three revealed cards that matches the rank of your high card you should Fold.
2) If you start with a suited 65 your EV is -0.96 when you bet1X which is better than folding (EV= -1.0). Thus, you should bet 1X. However, if the three revealed cards contain a 'bad card' - such as a 6, 5,7 or a card in the same suit as yours then you should fold.
3) If you are dealt a suited QJ you should normally bet 1X. However, if the three revealed cards have no cards in your suit and are all in the range 2-8, then I would Bet 3X.
4) Basic strategy when you are dealt a Low Pair, such as 55, is to Bet 3X. However, if the 3 revealed cards contain one of the cards of matching rank, then you should Bet1X; if you are dealt 55 and both of the other two 5s are in the three revealed cards then you should Fold.
5) If you reach fourth street with four points (High =2, Med =1, Low =0) and no straight or flush possibility the basic strategy is to Bet1X. However, if the three revealed cards contain at least one card that would pair one of your High or Medium cards, then you should FOLD. Otherwise BET 1X.
Of the above five rules, the two that will improve your EV the most are (1) and (5)

So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.
