e-Craps
3/4/5x odds

I started with $15 Passline/max odds, continuous come.
when I press, I Place/Buy.

I got the 6 to Place=$400 then the 7 came.
the computer said I had $1300 on the table. my bankroll only went up $800. :(

now I need to crunch #s to see how that happened with such a long roll.
(obviously, some #s were 2,3,11, and 12.)
Craps is paradise (Pair of dice). Lets hear it for the SpeedCount Mathletes :)

I've been thinking about your event because it's what I've experienced when I've had a lot of bets on the table with odds, and have progressed them. Much of it has to do with how much you progress your bets along with which numbers are hitting...even at multiple odds. Hit a bunch of 4's and 10's and that 2:1 payout is sweet. In your case, the 6 was hitting, the 6:5 isn't as sweet.

I have a question...a placed 6 pressed to $400 says the 6 was hitting. With a continuous come bet and a 6 that was hitting, how/why did you have the 6 placed? Did you have all the numbers covered AND placed the 6 for extra fun? :)

Having $15 flat bets and max 3-4-5 odds and a 2X bet on the come (doubling your flat bet in preparation of hitting a number), your bankroll is down $480 before you've made a dime, and you could potentially have rolled the dice six times. Add in the craps/11 rolls and maybe 8-10 rolls total now. So you could be ten rolls in, have held the dice longer than the average guy, but lose $420 if the 7 shows the next roll. You have 15+ rolls left.

Let's forget the 6 question for now and look at what can happen. You have $450 on the table. Your bankroll is -$450. You've rolled 10 times, already longer than the average player. You roll 6 more times and hit each one of the box numbers. You're on fire baby!!! You have a bunch of new best friends around your table singing your praises. You be the man!!! You've held the dice for 16 rolls and made everybody happy...well except the lone Don't player standing at the far end next to the dealer. He read a book that said...oh never mind about him...you're making money! You've profited a total of $760...you're going to Sizzler!

You like to progress your winners so each win you've gone from one unit to two, and you take max odds. Now you have $900 on the table working, $760 of it was profit from those last six rolls, and $140 from your bankroll. You're still the man, and all those people still love you and you've made a lot of money...but your bankroll is still down...-$140. You have $180 dollars in the boxes you can't touch but you could take down $720 if you want. But you're hot!!! can't touch this!!! The dice can't come back to you fast enough!!! Where's that drink lady? Let's go!!!

Aside: having rolled all six numbers we must remember one of them was the point. Which means that on the come out roll, your odds would be off...EXCEPT IT'S YOU AND YOU'RE HOT!!!! Odds are working on the come out roll! COMIN' OUT!!

You've held the dice so long they smell like your after shave. The crowd is 2-3 deep and the dealers are working hard, even breaking a sweat. The boxman, who thinks it's money out of his pocket, is shifting in his seat. There are bets everywhere and he's the one responsible for making sure they're accounted for accurately. You are making his life rough! Maybe you'd like a comped meal right now, sir? No thank you, you reply, I'M HOT!!!

Finally you get to roll. Another box number, and another, and another, and another!!!! You have a 6 placed for $400 and another $900 on the table and everyone knows where your bets are, all those black and green chips out there...you have three or four drink ladies by your side every roll now.

7

There's a smattering of applause, some heads nod your way...but all you hear is the relentless sound of chips being stacked and pulled off the table by the dealers. The boxman is breathing easier, the crowd around the table disappears, and you're left standing there, with your winnings. Must be 2-3 thousand dollars here, you say to yourself. But when you color up, it's $800. What? What!!! I was hot! I had every number covered! I progressed my bets! I took max odds! What happened?

You just described what happened when you said, "I had every number covered! I progressed my bets! I took max odds." Yes, you were hot. But not hot long enough to cover the drawdown of the extra bets and progressing your bets.

I know you weren't playing at a casino, but my story was more fun than a mouse click. And I also know your session didn't go exactly this way, but I'd bet it was reasonably close. You held the dice, covered the numbers, took the odds, progressed your bets, and left more money on the table than you made. There's probably a mathy thing that explains it in mathy terms, but it's enough for me to know that unless I'm playing one-and-done, every number needs to hit twice after I bet it to make money. And, if I progress the bet each time, I'm going to leave a boatload on the table when the 7 shows....maybe, and it seems like usually...more than I won.
...in the long run, you'll lose money.

It really is true that you need a big run by the shooter ... not just a "pretty good" run [usually immediately followed by Mr. PSO]
the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!”   She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder

It is pretty much relative, in the end you cant win alot unless your willing to lose alot.

One of the guys i play with starts with ($10 4 & 10, 5 & 9 and $30 6 & 8.

The other night We had 4 rolls, i had a 5 or so he had 3 and then i had a 28 and he had a 30. and
we quit.

He made about $780 and i made about $460.

I start with $18 8 and $10 9 and after 5 rolls add a come bet, and on him i start with
$6 6 & 8 and 1 come bet.

ON a choppy night i may make some or be even and he will lose $500 or more.

When the roll is over he will leave much more money on the table than i will.

He is willing to lose more to make more, always afriaid to miss the start of a good roll.
I would rather miss the start of a good roll, rather than lose starting money on
many more short rolls.

One thing that increases your left on table money on a 15-25 roll is come bets. I see
a number of people that play $10 come bet and double or triple odds, and they are
willing to go across before they hit anything. A person should get some back before
spreading out bets to far.
