We've all seen players call their bets off, be it for one roll only or more.

My question:

Assume the player has several Come or DC bets up, and calls them all off for one roll.

The shooter then immediately sevens out.

Do the called off bets stay up in place for the next shooter, or must they come down once the original shooter sevens out?

DS > All bets stay on the layout but are marked "OFF" until you turn them on with option to remove anytime.
Come bet is different story.

you can remove odds or turn off odds, but active come bets remain in play.

Ah, of course: my bad.

Usually I see it with place bets, that is what I was originally thinking of.

So then, they would stay up til the next shooter.

Got it.

I would think that place bets that are off during a seven out are returned.

New shooter means you start with a clean slate therefore a clear layout.

But you may have the option to ask that they stay up.

I gotta ask about that one...

Generally they just stay "up and off" until player wants them down or back on.
turning bets off may spook other players out: "What - you think a SEVEN is coming?" - "SHH!"

If the come bets have already traveled to a point, you can only call off the odds. I don't know of any "don't player" who has ever called off his bets. Usually you call off bets when you sense a 7 is coming.

Whether or not the bets go live again with the next shooter after a seven-out is up to the player. usually, you turn off your bets when they have been pressed up considerably and you might not want to risk too much money on the next shooter, so you "start over." But there is no rule.

Mr V it surprises me you would ask this.

As others have mentioned, Come & Don't Come bets are always working. Only the odds can be called 'Off'.

As they mentioned above, the odds of the come bets can be off (or taken down). But once a come bet has traveled to the number, it is considered a contract bet similar to the pass line that must be played out.

As far as placed bets are concerned, if you call your bets off and the shooter sevens out, the bets are given back to you unless you ask the dealer to leave them up on preparation for the next shooter.

One trick i use at times is i may place a 6 & 8 on the shooter before me. If
he hits a couple of them i an even on the bet or possibly you even get a press.

I then turn them off. When the dice get to me i have a $24 6 & 8 that costs
me $24 or maybe even less, rather than $48.

I only have to hit one and i am even or ahead.

Yeah, I use this pretty frequently as well...

But I'm always off for the first roll after the point, and I usually turn off fhe bet after the 4th or 5th. I figure if they haven't hit by then, there's no need to expose it anymore.
