Hello all,

I have a curiosity...

I'm playing Live Blackjack with live dealers online. I know almost perfectly the basic strategy rules that i almost always apply and on the long run it's very efficient of course. I decided to add a counting strategy (Hi/Lo): where 2-6 are +1, 7-9 are 0 and 10-A are -1. Applying it when dealers change decks. I learnt that the more positive the number is, the better for players.

Now, I play with an 8 decks, dealer stands on soft 17, no resplitting but double allowed, surrender allowed, Bj pays 3:2. The dealer draws a first card i.e. 7 and burns 7 cards from the deck at the beginning. Then, each end of round, the dealer burns a card and then distributes the cards. My question is: this affects any card counting strategies right? I had a round where we reached +10 and still was losing big time. If it does affect, are there any other solutions or you just need to stick to basic strategy rules and do a quick table reading? If it does not affect, are the burnt cards calculated as 0? Is the True Count absolutely necessary after each round? i.e. +10 / 8? or it doesn't really matter...?

Thank you for your answers and eventually solutions!!

Cheers.

You treat unexposed burn cards just like any other unseen cards; if you want to be precise add them on to the number of cards behind the cut card (in other words the penetration is reduced by the number of burned cards).

No the burnt cards do not affect card counting. However I know what game you're playing. You're playing the Playtech Live Dealer Games that various online casino's are offering. That BJ game is not beatable because of the very poor deck penetration. They shuffle after 4 decks that's a penetration of only 50%! If you want a beatable game you would want at least a penetration of 80%. So do not count because it has no effect and you could loose a lot of money...
My favorite bet: Double Down!
