What makes first base better?

If you don't have a solid reason, I'm sure we can arrange a good scolding.
May the cards fall in your favor.

I'm sorry; this is the Silly Argument forum. Scolding is down the hall, second door to your right.

somewhere on Wizard of Odds website is Michael's analysis of Blackjack where he had third base play in the most worst way possible, with the other players at the table playing perfect basic strategy.

After something like a billion hands, all the other players other than third base were at the expected loss, and third base lost horribly. That should get you over your concerns or fears.

If someone can find the link to the study, please post it here. I couldn't find it, but I've had some adult beverages.

Your scolding is surely on its way, but...
I don't think your position superstition is helping or hurting.
May the cards fall in your favor.

Awesome reminder. Thanks.

Reminds me of trying to converse with a certain member here.

If you want scolding, play 3rd base and your mistakes will irk the other players. I left my Basic Strategy card on the table during a shuffle to pick up a soda and the pit boss told me it (the card) can't be on the table. So I have to pull it from my pocket whenever I want to use it. Since I'm playing Spanish 21, the entire table doesn't know Basic Strategy.

I always preferred third base because you have the most information since you have seen more cards. Even if you are not counting just seeing a whole bunch of little cards makes it more likely a big card will be coming.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

The one advantage I can see to first base over third is, with first, you are less likely to have other players complain that "you took the dealer's bust card." Okay, you run the risk of the player after you complaining about your play, but that's only going to be one person, as opposed to the entire table.

Sit where you get the best chance of seeing a flashed card. Failing that, sit where you get the best view of the dealer's cleavage

I like first base, as I can sprawl out. I'll sit at third if I notice people tipping it.

I like the middle so that I'm not oblivious to what's happening in half the pit behind me and can scan my surroundings without turning my head. Not as many confrontations with table captains as 3rd either.

Back when I was single and dating it was fun to get to third base but much better to reach "home."

I guess I am just different, I couldn't care less what the others at the table think.
