Lucky Stiff Blackjack page

I just created a new page on Lucky Stiff Blackjack, with the kind help of the game co-owners, including our own Paradigm. We had some disagreements on the wording of the rules and finally settled on what you see now. Let me know if you think the rules are clear and whether the rule table helps, confuses, or is of neutral benefit. I welcome all other comments, questions, and especially corrections.

Yes the article is very clear about the bet and easy to understand. Though the payouts could be better.

Small correction, Wiz. You have Tunica, MS written correctly for Gold Strike Casino, but you have Tunica, WA for Resorts Casino instead.

Maybe so, but for a blackjack "side bet" I wouldn't expect to ever see a house edge much better than this.

LOL, that one is on me.....I gave Wiz the typed listing of installs and Tunica, WA was exactly as I typed it!

I like the written rules as they are very straight forward... I have a little trouble comprehending the chart that you have listed for the game. It is kind of hard for me to follow and i dont exactly know what to make of it...

Maybe so, but for a blackjack "side bet" I wouldn't expect to ever see a house edge much better than this.

I don't care it's a slot machine payout.

I would clarify that Wiz & I didn't have "disagreements", but rather a healthy exchange of opinion that resulted in re-wording of the rules a few times before settling on this set. I admit I am not a big fan of the table in the rules section, but it may be that I am more of a reader vs. user of if/then logic when learning a new game.

Mips, I like that table better....I think the dealer BJ column was a hold over from a previous iteration of rules that Wiz & I went back & forth editing.

The page discusses the strategy changes when you bet the side bet at an amount of at least 50% of the main bet.

Tring is correct and strategy changes only happen about once every 18 hands and only when you bet $10/$5 or similar 50% or greater ratios. I typically have told players to just play basic strategy and tell them the HE on Lucky Stiff is 4.35%.

To be honest, what feels the best in playing the game is right at about 40% of the main (e.g. $5/$2, $15/$5, etc.). At low limits the $5/$2 produces a nice $15 profit on stiff winners and your natural blackjacks pay a shade under 2-1 of the main bet. Obviously $15/$5 with a stiff winner pays a quarter and three nickels.....very nice!

But here is the kicker, players in reality are deviating from basic strategy a lot more often and that is driving the win on the main bet as well. You will see those 13 & 14's against a dealer 8 up card and some players are standing so as not to bust their hand and preserve the chance at the 5 to 1 pay out. It has been very interesting to see the game live and how players are playing their hands with the LS wager in play.
