Exactly why I do not attend live sporting events...too much drinking + false bravado + thinking you are ON the team!!!

I don't go to anything live anymore. The last time
was in 2007 when we saw Penn and Teller at the
Rio. BO-ring, unless you like listening to Penn
Gillette run his mouth for an hour with a few worn
out stunts thrown in. I wanted to walk out but my
wife wanted to make sure she got her money's worth.

Think about it, Teller doesn't talk so so Gillete has to
talk nonstop thru the whole show. Yuk.

I've seen P&T twice and thought they were very good. Gillette is good at running his mouth for an hour straight.

Well I am now down $5k for this trip...
I did not win one of my double downs the entire day
I did not win one of my splits the entire day

Here's a good story. The MIT team was using a
million dollar bank and had amassed over $700K
in about six months. They started losing and
in a just a few months lost the whole $700K and
part of the bank. Now thats variance.

Sounds more like a story to commiserate with rather than inspire LOL

Maybe I should take up drinking and womanizing instead of gambling as a vice?

It illustrates that variance doesn't play favorites.
You think you're depressed, they lost for months.
But they had won for months before that. Going
around and coming around is what BJ does.

OK - first session of the brand new day

Played for an hour and got $1k back
($4k til even for the trip)

Slow and steady wins the race...

Charles Barkley arrived yesterday with a $2million credit line (apparently he was taking photos and having a great time with everyone...of course, I was asleep at 8:30pm so I missed it)

However, I am in a drawing today for a Range Rover (alternate prize is $50k cash) and I have 194 entries...must be present to win (9 minutes to claim prize once name is called) - I have no idea what the EV is on this as I am sure the guys with the $1mil to $2mil credit lines playing this weekend all have 100x more entries than I do LOL

Hotel California was the first encore at the end of the show (as I predicted)

Session update:

got another $500 back then hit the hottest dealer on the planet, lost $1k of the $1,500 back then climbed back with three key doubledowns

Charles Barkley side note - he was refused a line of credit (based on his prior actions with Wynn in Vegas), bought in for $100k and left with $12k from the table

Oh yes indeed they did - and yes, it was an hour and a half into the show after they already said gnite then about 5 mins later the album cover photo was on the video screen-30 seconds later the guitar intro began

Did people fall for it? Did they really think they
weren't going to sing their signature song? That
would be like Sinatra not singing My Way. Which

Session news:

Although Bob will not approve, I am playing small sessions with $500 goals each time
I have $2500 out of $5k back

Highlight of the shoe was splitting 6's against a dealer upcard 6
dealt another 6
split
dealt another 6
split

first hand: 16
second hand: 16
third hand: 14
fourth hand: 14

dealer turns over a 4 for 10, then deals himself a 5 for 15, then busts!!!

Was almost back to even for the trip, had a good count, started betting heavier and the walls came crashing down!!! WAY DOWN!!!

I am in quite the depressed state at the moment - although I realize losses occur and variance rules the day, it is tough doing that horrifically in a good count

I will spare you all the gory details - suffice it to say, it was a bloodbath with the casino forcing me to raise the white flag before it all was lost.

Lack of sleep and lack of eating did me in
I became my own worst enemy
I became a "gambler" and played with emotions

Perhaps it was a lesson I needed to learn ( having been only playing with a "slight edge" for a few years" )
the casino environment got to me - I succumbed to the excitement of being there

Okay, no speech and not too tough love.

Lose the count you are currently using in favor of something stronger and play better games. If you do the former which is much more important you may not need the latter. This may require some time off and definitely requires some commitment.

You may just want to flat bet high limits using basic strategy, and chalk your losses up to the cost of the "casino lifestyle." You'd pay for the vacations/food/concert tickets anyway. Why count and put yourself through all the stress? You'll get plenty of variance flat betting $200-300 a hand.

Teddys raises a valid point. I have tunnel vision when it comes to blackjack where I'm there to make money only. You must decide what you want to get out of your casino experience. No one can do it for you.

Be advised that if you do step up your game and start winning more than the casino thinks you should you will no longer be on their A- list.

Thats no so bad. I thought you were going to
say 12K. For the amounts you lay out there for
bets, 7500 is very believable. Face it, you bet
like you have 50K BR, so 7500 down is just

Ace I am sorry you are whipped.
I would strongly suggest trying a stronger count and following the index whenever possible and within reason.
Also, I would read up a little bit on bankroll and money management. Loss limits, and playing on tilt or emotion.
Pull it together man. You can come back and whip these places.
I've been playing for 27 years and I don't let a little red ink stop me from my mission.

Also, I love AC, even in winter, mainly because of the ocean
But once the weather turns, you have to go play in PA.
AC edge is almost .3% higher than PA.

Wong - I agree wholeheartedly with your advice. My emotions got to me. I had friends and family there

You're the only player I know that just plays
in the casino he's staying at. You need to move
around. I've seen occasions when most of the
BJ dealers in a casino were never busting and
in the next joint they were all busting. Seriously.

Bob-this comment surprises me from you
I thought you were a logic-based player and
relied on logic and probability---not whether there
is a "dealers are busting" trend
