I won't eat at any buffet in Vegas, or anywhere else for that matter. ... Has anyone ever gone to the GN in Biloxi?

When I visit Biloxi, I often stop at the Golden Nugget, just to let them know I'm in town. On Wednesdays seniors get half-off buffet (B or L) and a free slot tournament (each require some -- but not a lot of -- points earned that day, IIRC). I'm pretty easy to please, and I consider the GN buffet about average. (FWIW, I consider the following buffets as "above average": Beau Rivage, Island View (in Gulfport), and Hard Rock. I consider Harrahs Gulfcoast and Scarlet Pearl as "below average." Others are "average.")

As far as games, GN tries to compete with the Beau Rivage, and it ain't no Beau Rivage. But, it tries, often with higher limits on games I like (when they are open). The casino-hotel layout is a catastrophe. Only one bathroom on the main gaming floor, and you have to pack your lunch before you head off to it. Slots scattered here, there, and everywhere, each requiring security to make sure no minors play. That's certain to increase costs. And, don't even get me started on the "artistically designed" hotel rooms. Yech!

Heading to Biloxi this morning for some real adventures
Just checked VP free
Boy has video poker gone down hill
WTF
Place used to have lots of decent VP
Times have changed

Indeed!

I was at the GN last month, and was surprised to find a few machines with 25c 9/6 JoB (not listed on VPFree) at the little bar up on the 2nd floor, adjacent to the sports bar/grill. Plus, it was relatively quiet as well as non-smoking -- I think the whole 2nd floor is non-smoking, but not 100% sure about that.

It was sometimes hard to get the bartender's attention at that particular bar (they spend most of their time on the sports grill side of the bar, which doesn't have machines), but overall, they had great drink service throughout the casino.

And they serve heavy pours, which is ironic as the GN stands where the Isle of Capri (a.k.a "Pile of Debris") stood pre-Katrina, where they would serve 8oz beers and cocktails where the alcohol would barely coat the bottom of the glass!

Hope you have fun!

I'm going to give it a shot
Never hit a royal in Vegas where 98% of my VP play is
I hit it once in Biloxi
Will lightning strike twice
I'm really there to get some top notch shrimp and grits at a nice restaurant

I have heard good things about the White Pillars restaurant in Biloxi. I believe the chef has been on some of the Food Network shows and was called "The king of southern seafood".

I have not been there as I haven't spent any time in Gulfport/Biloxi in over 10 years.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Im just down the street from white pillars
Way way way over priced
On the other end of the spectrum
I had the buffet at the Palace casino
I was quite pleased with it
Might be my final buffet. Getting too old for this
I over ate and got totally bloated because their brisket was killer
Had to lay down back home and digest while waiting for the world series to start

Happy to find stuff like this in Biloxi 😉
