Is there such a figure to show the total revenue of all casinos in the country. I would be curious to see if all the addition of casinos has really made more money or just distributed it.

Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course has already opened in Youngstown Ohio only 25 miles from New Castle (edit) PA. If they must built a casino in W. PA I think that the Grove City/Slippery Rock area would be better, but still not a very good idea.

The WPA area could theoretically use a casino in the north Pittsburgh Metro area. Theoretically. People here are weird and many will not travel as far as Meadows and are "afraid" of "going into the city." However, the current Pittsburgh casinos draw heavy on bus trips from the I-79 corridor and nearby Pennsatucky. A casino up there cuts current business.

I think that total revenue has increased over the years with all the new casinos and looking at Reno, AC and Tunica some re-distribution has also happened. The question of "made more money" i.e. net profits for casinos is more in doubt.

Yeah I should have said revenue and not made money. I can see new money when a brand new market gets one but when you add casinos in west PA I can't see new money. I would think it would just re distribute.

Pittsburghers and their river phobea. In the 80's I worked with this girl in downtown who live in the east hills and had never crossed the rivers, except for twice to go to the airport for national guard deployment. To tell the truth I would be more afraid of going into some parts of New Castle than to the Rivers. I got lost many years ago trying to find the Meadows OTB parlor in New Castle and ended up going thru some not so nice neighborhoods.

Rivers, mountains, it is all weird. You don't realize how silly it is until you move away and see that this is not normal behavior. I have tried to explain how if you grow up in the "south hills" then in the south hills you stay, and if you move to the "north hills" you will never see your friends again. You will make no new friends because everyone in every neighborhood grew up there and the places are about as welcoming to newcomers as is Ozone Park.

Of course this is a touch of exaggeration. But not as much as one might think. I will continue to say that the Holy Roman Empire had nothing on WPA when it comes to making little enclaves that are isolated to themselves.

Live Casino first look

This resort may become the new #1 casino in Pennsylvania. Right now Parx is #1 in slot revenue, while Sands Bethlehem is #1 in table revenue (given their distance from NYC and Chinatown, and Sands experience with appealing to Asian gamblers). But Live! will probably take a big chunk from Chester.

Final report for fiscal year FY2014-15
Casino : gross revenue - taxes = after taxes (IN MILLIONS)

Sands Bethlehem : $492 - $183 = $309
Parx : $508 - $218 = $289
The Rivers : $348 - $158 = $190

SugarHouse : $270 - $107 = $163
Harrah's Philadelphia : $285 - $127 = $158
Mohegan Sun : $262 - $120 = $141
Penn National : $250 - $120 = $130
The Meadows : $243 - $118 = $125

Mount Airy : $184 - $81 = $103
Presque Isle : $131 - $65 = $66

Valley Forge : $109 - $46 = $64
Nemacolin : $35 - $16 = $18

Total : $3,116 - $1,359 = $1,756

Sands in Bethlehem is making far more profit on table games than on slots given the much lower tax structure.

They may be under some pressure not to release recent data. Macau peaked for a running 12 months at close to $50 billion

USA Gaming Revenue: 10—Year Trend Total Commercial Casino
2003 $28.72 billion
2004 $31.17
2005 $32.77
2006 $35.27
2007 $37.52
2008 $36.22
2009 $34.28
2010 $34.60
2011 $35.64
2012 $37.34

That's got to be really bad news to AC/LV/MS; with revenues that flat, it's got to be coming out of their destination customers staying home (assuming those numbers include Tribal properties and new state constructs) to a significant extent.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Well, here's some good news for PA casinos. Rivers Casino, Mountaineer & Meadows Racinos have opened up today. They are located in counties that entered the green phase this past weekend, but got there a few weeks after going to yellow phase.

Here's hoping the remaining counties in PA do the same! Don't know if I can keep doing the 2 and a half hour drive to CT much more.
