This is from the AC Press. A 17 year old shot two 16 year olds on the 47th floor of the Taj Thursday night. The 16 year olds went to Atlantic Care with non-life threatening injuries and perpetrator was found on Virginia avenue with a handgun. When the police arrived on the 47th floor neither the victims or the perpetrator was there. They responded to someone reporting they heard gunshots.

How did the 17 year old check into the room. Was the room under someone else's name. This is unbelievable. The kid could have just walked onto the casino floor and started shooting people. The Taj should lose their casino license just for this incident. All minors!!! Where is security.

Taj has always been super vigilante on checking room keys, I'd love to hear the full story.

If it helps, anyone who walks into a casino with a gun almost anywhere could, "Just walk onto the casino floor and start shooting people." I can count the number of casinos that have patted me down on zero hands, I really don't see how any of this is supposed to be the fault of the Taj.

47th floor .... did they start counting at 20 or something?

Revel is 709 ft tall and has 57 floors

Taj is ONLY 470 ft tall and shows 50 floors

Borogata is 457 ft tall showing 38 floors

maybe Taj caters to short people and has 6 ft high ceilings

16 yr-olds are always dissing 17 yr-olds. Of course you have to shoot them then.

You're correct, my friend. The Taj does not start counting at one.

There are two towers. The Taj tower has the casino level(ground floor) and conference room level (2nd flr), followed by the 14th floor pool (third level) followed by the 15th floor and up for rooms.

The other tower is the Chairman tower and the floors are numbered contiguous so the floor above the conference level is the 51st floor (or something thereabouts) on the left hand elevator bank which goes up to floor 77. The right hand elevator bank accesses the opposite side of the same Chairman tower and the floors begin with 78 and go into the 90's.

Obviously the Taj is not 90 plus stories high.

Last summer I was at the Taj for a conference (the only reason I would ever go there, I would never spend my money there), and one of my coworkers got his truck shot in the parking garage by some black gang for having a confederate flag flying on it. Nobody got injured, and it was only a damaged window so it got totally swept under the rug and I don't think it ever made the press at all.

The Taj really is badly run anymore, I almost wish Trump would drop out of the race and do something about his old casinos....

And, not to derail this topic, but this is a prime example of why I still support armed security being allowed in AC casinos. It takes way too long for cops to get to the casino and then find their way to the right area.... Armed guards would solve and deter a lot of issues. And, lets be real, AC has a lot of bad characters hanging around. many of whom carry illegally.... I would feel safer with armed guard around the casinos and parking garages....

Maybe the kid didn't check into the room, maybe he just knew where his rivals were staying and snuck into the hotel area? In the winter they are a lot less strict about checking for room keys by the elevators.

With the Loose cannons casinos too often hire for security, I actually think I'd feel less safe with armed guards. Examples being the idiot at south point shooting up a car windshield and the Eldorado Reno guard who beat a patron to death. While those two instances are a bit extreme, casino security behaving in a ridiculous manner seems to be the norm.

I believe caesars does the same thing with room numbers. If I am remembering correctly last year we had floor 38 and I was thinking it was going to be up high but we were on like the 10th floor. It could have been somewhere else Though, we have been in a dozen or so hotels in the last year.

Little known fact, the 16th floor of "The D Las Vegas" is actually in the sub-basement.

I was at Taj on Saturday, it seemed like business as usual and nobody was acting differently, certainly not the security guards.

So I doubt the Taj higher ups even care and treat it as an isolated incident since it did not disrupt the gaming floor. Heck, they're probably a little pleased that they are getting free publicity!

I don't know what you expected three days after the event. Of course it was business as usual.

I can't imagine any hotel shutting down over this.

A few years ago a host was killed for not comping a guest at Caesars, I believe and they simply roped off the area of the shooting on the floor while everyone else continued to gamble.

I was playing 3 Card at the Taj when the dealer started having an seizure. Being a nurse I went in to full "Nurse Mode", the pit boss stepped right in told me to leave her alone and another dealer came in to finish the hand. (payouts were being made) Not a beat was skipped. Play was halted until the Pit Boss counted the money and the next round was dealt.

I was appalled, that poor woman, no one came to help her, someone at the table called 911 and it only took about 10 minutes for them to show up. I couldn't believe no one at the Taj is prepared to deal with a medical emergency. Please pray, that nothing happens to me at the Taj.

Head of security did come over to me and thank me for trying to help. We left, right away, we were pretty shaken up.

Some casinos have Security Guards who are EMT qualified.

In addition to armed security, I think this would be another way to improve Security at casinos, would be by requiring a certain percentage of guards to be armed, and a certain percentage to be EMT qualified.

I think the job title is something like "Security Guard-EMT" for casinos that have those.

This is a disturbing story, but it may not have been the first time the dealer had an episode, so maybe it is routine business for the PB and the rest of the staff. Of course it could also just be New Jersey, where things like this happen:

This is what is wrong with our great country. Blame Taj, not the idiot with the gun. Do you want to live in a police state? We should check everyone who goes to movies because there was a shooting in a theatre. They should lose their license also. 18 y.o. are allowed to go to war and kill, but are not old enough to buy a beer or go to casinos to gamble.

When did we stop taking responsibilities?

"The kid could have just walked onto the casino floor and started shooting people." The kid could have started shooting people at a church also. Should the church be closed if this happens? He could have started shooting in front of your house also. Should people be banned from walking outside also.
