Hello,

I am currently working on some on the math behind poker, and I am stuck. I a poker situation, where there are five active players. They got these hands (I'm not english, so I hope I get the name of the cards correct):

Player 1 : Ace Clubs, Ace Diamonds

Player 2: 9 Spades, 10 Spades

Player 3: 9 Hearts, 10 Hearts

Player 4: 9 Diamonds, 10 Diamonds

Player 5: 9 Clubs, 10 Clubs

So my question is, what's the plausibilities that Player 2 - 5 get's straight? I'm not interested in any calculators, I want to know the exact math behind it :)

Thx in advance.

You left out the flavor of poker that these people are playing. Is it Texas Hold'em?

Because there's so many variants of poker that start with two hole cards and proceed to deal more competing in popularity.

I'll simplify. How many more cards will be dealt?

Five: three on the flop, the turn and the river, since Texas Hold'em is the only less than particularly eccentric variant of poker where the play starts with two cards to each player; others deal more.

I assume all the players will stay in to the showdown.

Would you consider a straight flush a straight for the purpose of this exercise? Also, would a straight that will lose to a flush or better still count?

Edit: Assume a straight on the board is a straight as well?
