I am looking for the odds on winning the four rolls no seven bet at Sam's Town, someone told me it was around 48%. I have someone asking me about the bet. I say it's a bad bet, but I do admit I am no math guy, and hate to write anything about a bet with out the math behind the bet!

Is that the entire bet? That the next four rolls can be anything, but no sevens?

The odds of a single roll not being a seven is 30/36, so four in a row would be ( 30/36 ) ^ 4 = 48.225%

The probability of rolling a 7 on a given roll is 16.67%. So the probability of NOT rolling a 7 on any roll is 83.33%. The odds of not rolling a 7 on 4 consecutive rolls .8333^4=48.22%

Found it:

https://wizardofodds.com/craps/appendix4.html

Too lazy to format, so just cut and paste. Then search "four rolls no seven"

The bet pays even money (1 to 1)

Has anyone played this bet? How do they track it? I assume it'd have to be done by the stickman to somehow keep track which roll each player is on.

The bet is tracked by the boxman, with white buttons with the numbers 1-4 on the buttons. Every roll one more button placed on the felt with number up! Then the pay out of even money if you get to the four rolls with out the 7 showing!

So basically it is worse odds than a field bet. Both pay even money but the side bet has 27% lower odds of hitting.

It's not as bad as BIG 8/8.

Can I get more details? I would like to take that bet. Shooter has to roll anything put a 7, 4 times to pay even money?

The bet can only be made at the shooters first comeout roll. Well if the above numbers are true then we have a win rate of 48.22% The pass line has a win rate of 49.3% Only a DI can overcome those odds. Rick, good to see you on this board!

HA would be 3.55%, lower than placing 5/9.

True, but it is still higher than a field bet, playing 6/8 or buying 5/10. A nonstandard bet should offer a jackpot.

Only if the field pays triple 12.

As a general rule, bets with lots of variance, that pay off long odds, also have high house edges, like the Fire Bet. This is also true of most of the proposition bets. This bet is unusual among non-standard bets in that it has low variance and pays even money, so the HA is relatively low.

I agree there doesn't seem to be much incentive to make this bet, unless you believe you can avoid the seven by setting/DI. If you're going to play for even money, bet the pass line!
