Well if things don't go sideways as far as COVID goes my wife and I should be in Las Vegas for March Break which is the 13th to the 17th this year.

What's the lay of the land?

What are current COVID restrictions like? I think there is a mask mandate dependent on CDC guidelines for case rates in a county correct? Or do I have that wrong?

We'll almost certainly have to source PCR tests to return home to Canada. We use tried to use Elite Medical on Harmon, but ended up using e7 Health way south of the airport on our July 2021 trip. Any problems sourcing tests?

I have a car rented at the moment although it's $60/day ugh! I'm hoping the price drops and I'll cancel and re-book, but it is largely pay for parking on the strip now right? We're currently booked for TI, but we'll move to the Wynn/Encore if they change their current offer to something more reasonable. Both locations have free parking, however if we take the car to anywhere mid-strip or points further south we should expect to pay correct? We're visiting for an hour maybe two at most at any other locations.

Speaking of TI are their table games open all the time now or do they still open at 11AM?

What are minimums like for blackjack and craps? I could find $15 minimums at TI for blackjack and $15 minimum for craps at both Wynn/Encore and TI back in July 2021.

I think most shows are back on. The shows were just starting up again back in July.

Any other items that I should be aware of?

I expect hospitals in multiple states will just slam their doors on new patients for any malady including emergencies already.

Hopefully, masks will only be required for obese people with four or more comorbidities. COVID isn't a threat to the rest of us.

If you're already short of breath because you had COVID, an N95 mask on you may make it impossible to walk around like a tourist, especially indoors. Bring a pulse oximeter to check if you're dying.

There was an indoor mask mandate when I was there after Christmas. I would estimate about 90 - 95 % compliance.

I have a trip planned for early May.

If the sheeple are still wearing masks, I will cancel.

I am a vaccinated, healthy, viable human. My risk of death from COVID is 0.001%.

Caleb Wallace was fat, hypertensive, and diabetic- a mask wouldn't help him.

Mask mandate is here to stay…if the Governor holds to his word that certain metrics must be met. Case rate under 50 per 100k for 2 straight weeks and positivity under 8%. Both metrics aren’t even close right now. Another planet.

My guess is the mandate for masks disappears when it is no longer a political benefit for those in charge. That’s probably coming soon enough…but I’m guessing many months away.

Mask is mandatory for all casinos I have visited so far. But mask means any face covering. People are not worried about the virus. 70-80% people wear mask though. I will have PCR test around 15 Feb. Wil post update after.
Craps at Palace Station, South Point, Gold Coast, Stratasphere, Sahara and Rio is $10 min. Ellis Island is $5-$300. Venetian , Red Rock, Resorts World are $15 during daytime. Venetian and Resorts World go up to $25 at night. Aria is $25 all day. Hope it helps. A reminder, craps during daytime is pretty dead. except Ellis Island. A small tip, Ellis Island will feed anybody . Great steak and ribs. But karaoke will kill you.
Good luck

Just got back from a business trip to Vegas...

-- Masks are mandated at any indoor public spaces, with the exception of while eating/drinking/smoking. Enforcement is hit or miss. I was playing at a table in the Wynn and was sipping a drink. As soon as I put my glass down, the pit boss was all over me to put my mask back up! At the restaurants I visited, just about nobody wore them while seated at a table.

I was also in Vegas last month and spent a few days in Arizona. In Williams and the places we stopped at on I40, very few people were wore masks and nobody seemed to care, even when there was signage indicating masks were required. There was more masking in the Grand Canyon, since it is a National Park.

-- Walked through the TI yesterday about 9 AM. There were 3 BJ tables going. The minimums were $10. No craps, roulette, or carny games going.

-- I didn't see anything less than $25 minimums at Wynn on Sunday or Monday evening.

-- I rented a car for 2 of the 5 days I was there (Hertz, full-size, pickup at LAS, return to Resorts World, AAA Discount). The total out the door was $91. If I wanted the full 5 days, the weekly rate kicked in and it was close to $300.

Interestingly, since the Resorts World location is essentially unmanned (there is a guy at a desk inside the resort, but nobody in the return lot), I couldn't get a receipt printed at drop off. I just got the receipt in my email this morning... for $1,088!!! I called them and they said they have no idea how that happened and that they'd refund the difference. We'll see.

-- According to the cabbies I talked to and my own eyes, the crowds are still lower than normal.

-- Sorry, I can't help with testing since US domestic travel doesn't require it.

Good report Joeman. Thanks.

I eagerly await the day when the stupid masks go away. It's bizarre that people put up with this crap in Vegas. It's a different world in the state of FL.

I was there in early December, I thought mask compliance was more like 75%

If the vaccine hold-outs got the shots, then we would probably be well past mask mandates.

But they didn't, and we aren't.

Update:

“Given all of these updates and the tools we have, now is the appropriate time for me to announce that Nevada will rescind our mask mandate, effective immediately,” Sisolak said.

The state will still observe national rules requiring masks in transportations hubs including airports. Masks will also still be required on public transportation.

“Just like vaccines, masks are still a great tool that we have at our disposal,” Sisolak said. “I expect going forward to still see Nevadans and visitors utilizing masks when they are out in public.”

Yes I saw that the governor had lifted the mandate on the LVRJ site just before you posted.

Interesting.

We'll have to see what else happens. Many provinces are starting the process of relaxing restrictions so the lay of the land in both countries may be very different come the middle of March.

There's nearly 1,000 new COVID cases a day in Clark County, Nevada. That'd be 43 per 100,000 per day, well over the less than 10 per 100K that is recommended before dropping mask mandates. Esmeralda & Eureka counties are below 10 per 100K.

More evidence that masks do absolutely nothing to stop the spread of a very weak, easily survivable virus.

The only thing masks accomplish is to identify the sheople. And some will continue to ride around in the car alone triple masked forever.

Well at the risk of adding some facts to this discussion, it wasn't easily survivable for the 7,195 people who died from COVID in Clark county.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/nevada-covid-cases.html

But you do you.

You have lots of company from the sheople who get their "news" from FOX. Heaven forbid you would have to suffer the horrible inconvenience of wearing a mask indoors in a crowded place just because it could save someone else's life.

(emphasis added)

Did he really say that? Back when I was there in May when masks weren't required for vaxxed folk, I didn't see any masks. So, I came to the conclusion that everyone in the city of Las Vegas must be vaxxed. Well, that or some had their fingers crossed when they said they were vaxxed!

I can't imagine that people who didn't wear them when they 'had to' will start wearing them now that they don't have to! Maybe it's just wishful thinking on the Gov's part.

Well I put it in quotes, so according to the ARTICLE, yes, he really said that.
