Quote: FinsRuleI'm making my first trip to Vegas in 2 years. Staying on the strip the whole time. Any fun new restaurants, attractions, gambling related stuff, tips, etc., that I should check out? Thanks!
Caesar's ferris wheel -- The High Roller
Quote: GWAEwholly crap, planning activities 2 years in advance.
That's not what he meant by "I'm planning my first vacation in 2 years" - it has been 2 years since the last time he was here, and he wants to know what has changed. (And why do I have the feeling that you already knew that?)
As mentioned, the High Roller
Hotels - Cosmopolitan and if you are there around the opening the Cromwell might be worth checking out.
Restaurants - I love STK at cosmopolitan but it is a little pricey. Cosmo has many very good restaurants, from Spanish to Japanese to American fare.
Shows - Absinthe, that's all :)
Gambling - MGM has the best blackjack games in town and their dealers are good. VP, best you stay downtown for that. CRaps - anywhere that takes your fancy, the games are much of a muchness.
Have a great time!!!

This most definitely isn't true. Maybe you meant on the strip as opposed to in the whole town. That's debatable, but I wouldn't have responded, but I can't let the 'best in town' comment go. Lol.

He asked for "on the strip", I gave him info for "on the strip" :) Sorry I should have made that clear.
There are better games in the locals joints but he would have to travel to get to those.
Was just trying to localize for him a bit :)

hahaha nope I read it as it was his first trip to vegas that will happen in 2 years. I was reading it on my phone so that is my excuse.
Overall they did a good job with the Linq area, though it is Vegas priced to the max.

Yeah, that was a run on sentence. I'll be going in 4 weeks. The last time I was there was May 2012.
Quote: BozRode the new High Roller this week and it is great. The view of the entire area from the top was incredible. You can see from Red Rock to North LV. Also as a note, they are offering 2 free tickets to Diamond Card holders as a benefit.

The High Roller? Naaaaw. Go to the Strat instead. Costs half as much, takes you higher, you'll have a better view, and you can stay as long as you want. The High Roller will have to be about $5 to get the ridership.

It's interesting you mention the Strat. They used to have a ride called The High Roller. They took that roller coaster off the Strat Tower some years ago.

Yep, or go up to the nearly top floor bar/lounge for only a 2 drink minimum at the Strat.

Do you have to pick up the free Diamond tickets at a certain property?
They also have the Lion's Share slot, near the High Limit area, if you want to "take a shot."
Then again, you can always participate in an old-fashioned Las Vegas beat down .
Quote: MrVIf you get drunk and want to hoot and holler, there is the Sigma Derby at MGM.

I thought they got rid of their sigma derby machine.

It was still there as of last weekend.

I'm assuming half of the stations are still broke though?

Are we talking about the same machine? I'm talking about the one with the mechanical horses that takes real quarters. I've played before and everything seemed to work.

When I was there in February about four of them were out of service at mgm. D's looked all functional.
And according to a 2+2 poster, it's about 15m to the right of the buffet. That seems a bit long, but it's close.
Quote: DrawingDeadI'm told MGM Grand ate the lions or something, and replaced their kitty-cats with nothing much in particular, like about 18 months ago, true? I haven't been in the big green place in a while.
Yes the Lions are no longer there. But I forget where they ended up.
Successful thus far.
Also, not on strip, but just off strip at Rio is a new Zipline that runs between the building from the Voodoo Lounge.

The Quad (soon to be LINQ hotel) and the LINQ as a whole is also new to him too. As a craft beer lover, I'm looking forward to seeing TAG lounge at the Quad.
Did the reviewer that wrote his review to Guy's NY restaurant in all questions visit Guy's "Vegas Kitchen" yet? I would love to read another one of his reviews...lol
Oh, between the "Masquerade" and "Ipanema" hotel towers? I wonder if that could get interesting for someone as they step out of the shower or something on the 40th floor. You know they have those floor to ceiling windows for the whole exterior wall. Or maybe they just have it running from the lounge at the top of Masquerade off into the surface parking lot out back?Quote: kewlj...at Rio is a new Zipline that runs between the building from the Voodoo Lounge.
