This week a Federal Court told the Obama administration to SOGOTP on Yucca Mountain. One would think with the problem festering over 25 years we could get it done. But I doubt the ruling will end the game of kick-the-can. Until there is no place to put spent fuel on-site at our plants.
Is this really the issue among the locals in Vegas it is made out to be?
What I have wondered is why not just drop it all down a big hole and use a small atomic device, say 5% the size if the Hiroshima bomb, and burn it all up? The test-ban treaty could be worked around. Wouldn't this technically be possible?

It's an issue that crosses in bipartisan territory fairly well. Unpopular.
