I'll be visiting this summer and have been looking for some of the "must hit" places to eat. I've got a couple lined up on the savory side, but was wondering if you guys knew of any particular desserts that I should be sure to seek out?

So far I'm planning to hit the Hash House a Go Go; Buffet @ Ceasers; Buffet @ Cosmo; and Nobu. Any other suggestions ranging up to say $100-$150 per person?

Go to Jean Philippe Patisserie @ Aria. Excellent pastries. Try the hot chocolate, it is the best on the continent.

Then there is the Cheesecake Factory @ Forum Shops / Caesar's. You get a lot of variety of damn satisfying cheesecakes.

Also, do yourself a favor and cross Hash House off your list. There is nothing wrong with it per se, but if you are into good food, there are far better options for you to experience.

I couldn't disagree more. Hash House has an outstanding breakfast, though I cannot speak to lunch/dinner.

Have you considered the Golden Steer for Surf and Turf? It's old school Vegas, and the Wizard gave them a shout out.

Regarding desserts, the buffet at the M resort had a wide assortment to choose from, each bite sized portion prepared in its own little cup or plate. Since it is a buffet, and most folks are stuffed by the time desserts roll around, it is very sensible to package them that way. Take as many or as few as you desire. The buffet at Wynn had something similar, but not as wide an assortment.

Have a great time, and report back on your impressions. I am especially curious about Nobu's since the recent remodel.

The capt'n crunch fried chicken at The Park on Freemont, I have to say is better than my beloved Hash House sage fried chicken.

Monta Ramen is pretty good, if you have a car.

Welp, that is enough of an endorsement for me. Consider it on the list.

I went there a few years ago during my last visit. Something about pulling up to the IP after a fair amount of drinking the night before, and having that giant tower of waffles, bacon, and fried chicken put before me that hits me right in the feels. And if I remember correctly I think we got out of there for about $20 a person.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'll second that. Personally, I consider Studio B to be the best value for a buffet in Vegas, but it's not really in the class of 100+ a person. (Tip for the cheapskates here: They don't kick you out when they go from breakfast to lunch, so you can show up minutes before the changeover and save a few bucks.) Also, they have a really nice root beer on tap.

Have you tried Bally's Sterling Brunch?

The menu changes quite a bit, but I found it to be quite good. (I got in on a Groupon deal for ~65$/person after tip.)

If you go though, you'll want to make reservations or show up early. I got there about an hour before they opened and they turned away the group of three that came minutes after.

Golden Steer looks good. I'm penciling it in as my steakhouse meal.

I'm staying at the HRH so I'll be sure to check out Nobu.

If you are looking for desserts, I recommend the soufles at the Eiffel Tower restaurant. It is also a beautiful place with a nice view to go and have a drink and dessert.

The baklava at Milos in the Cosmopolitan. Any desert at the Palm in the Forum. Wolfgang Puck's at MGM Grand is worth a look-see. The menus change according to market conditions.

This might strike you as strange... I am not a big dessert eater but I do like cheesecake from time to time. There are a lot of good cheesecakes all over the country. I am a big ice cream lover and I think I honestly found the best chocolate ice cream at Central -- the 24 hour cafe -- at Caesars.

The ice cream is made there and part of the chocolate flavor includes tastes of hazlenut. Plus it is made with an incredibly rich chocolate. This is chocolate that can't be resisted.

I had a piece of cheesecake at Bally's Steakhouse on my last visit. I can't say that it was the best cheesecake ever, but it was certainly very good. And it was an amazing value, especially for Las Vegas. I think it was $7, and the piece was enormous! Certainly enough to feed two comfortably, maybe 3 or 4. Would definitely recommend. Sit at the bar in front of the steakhouse, have a glass of wine or whathaveyou, and enjoy a cheesecake feast!

I ate at the orginal Hash House on West Sahara in Sept 2010 with the Wiz and some other WoV fans and we had a great time, good food and good service.

I ate at the Hash House at Mohegan Sun this past December. It sucked.

At any rate, there isn't a Hash House in Caesars. It's in the Quad. There's also locations in the Plaza and M.

Be sure to top off the evening at Mandalay Bay's "Light" club with its My Cherry Amour at two thousand dollars each.

All praises to whatever host is willing to comp that!!

Recent entries from my favorite restaurant critic: Flaming Fajitas, Cafe Zupa, Radio City Pizza Fremont East.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I appreciate all of them.

I should also mention that this trip will be the culmination of my approximately yearlong cut down from 212 lbs. I'm currently sitting at around 158. Right now I feel like going to every single one of the places mentioned here.

One scoop of the chocolate ice cream is all you need, but a regular serving has three scoops.

The most innovative dessert is at RM Seafood at Mandalay. It's 16 mini scoops of ice cream, and if you can guess all the flavors, it's free. That's impossible to do, but it's a lot of fun, and tastes pretty good too. It's a Vegas must try.

Oh, and Bellagio buffet is best on strip.

Any high end buffet, such as Caesars, Wynn, Bellagio ect is going to have a wonderful variety of excellent desserts.

If you're in the mood for Ice Cream (and who isn't in the mood for Ice Cream?) I recommend 'Gelato' across from the pool entrance at The Bellagio. I try to go there each time I'm in Las Vegas. Not only do they have Ice Cream, but they also have outstanding Bear Claws and other pastries that are excellent.

Congrats on the weight loss. I lost about 25 pounds for my wedding 3 months ago and I've put about 15 back on. Dieting is one of the hardest things ever! It did feel good to just pig out for a week on my honeymoon though so I can definitely see where you're coming from by trying to eat at all of these places.
