I have four free nights (2 separate offers of 2 nights) at Stations Casinos that I plan to use on my next trip. I'm trying to decide which Stations to stay at. I've stayed at Palace, Boulder, Santa Fe, and Texas before. Of those four, I rather enjoyed Santa Fe, thought Boulder was decent, and did not care for Palace or Texas. Never been to the others. The offer is good for any weekday night. On weekends, the selection is limited to Palace "Courtyard," Texas, and the Fiestas. Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch are not included in the offer. I'm not sure whether they charge a resort fee on comped rooms, so I've included those for comparison's sake. Also, I will probably not be renting a car this trip, so accessibility by bus is a consideration.

Any thoughts?

Stations does not charge a resort fee as long as there is no fee for your room (if you do their $25 upgrade option, the resort fee does apply).

My vote is for Sunset Station. Maybe not the easiest bus ride - out on Tropicana to Boulder highway southbound, then back west on Sunset to the casino - but the rooms are decent and the games are good.

I second the vote for Sunset Station. It is very nice (and huge) and ideally located for someone on foot.

There are a lot of stores and restaurants within walking distance. The BHX bus from downtown ends its express route down Boulder Highway at Sunset Station. The 402 bus takes you from the airport to Sunset Station, and the 402 also continues down Boulder Highway all the way to Boulder City. So, with the BHX and the 402 you have easy access to all of the casinos on the Boulder Strip and beyond.

Time is money; if you're going to be spending all your time on a bus just to get back and forth to the Strip, you're probably better off with a $50 room at a Caesars property on the Strip than a free one 10 miles away. But my idea of a vacation isn't sitting on a bus. Also, that area of town was where I went shopping (Sunset Galleria) when I lived in Henderson so I don't think of it as a vacation destination. To me, it's just a mall with a casino nearby.

Thanks for that opinion but you must not have read my trip reports. Last time I went to Vegas I went for 23 days and rode the bus for 16 of those days. I've become a huge fan of RTC, and am going to buy the 30-day all-access pass this time. I plan to do more bus riding than ThatDonGuy!

Also considering doing some biking this trip. On that note, any locals have a bike they are willing to lend/rent/sell?

Beginning sept 30, RTC is offering a 15 day all access pass which could be beneficial for shorter visits. Seniors age 60+ are eligible for reduced fares, (about 50% of all fares and passes) but it does require a one time visit to the Bonneville transit center (downtown). You need to show proof of age or medicare card and get a photo RTC reduced fare card which is good for 5 years.

If travel is a concern, Palace Station is closest to the Strip.
If travel is not a concern, then consider Green Valley Ranch.

Okay, based on the resounding consensus, I booked Sunset Station for two nights. It turned out I only had two nights, not four, since one offer was expired. We'll see how it goes. Did consider Aliante for a bit, but the distance is just too far.

Aliente isn't even a Station anymore.

Aliente isn't even a Station anymore.

Corporate-ly speaking, yes, but marketing and promotion wise they are still grouped with the other hotels.
