Prince Harry just pulled Vegas into his latest bad boy scandal. Letting off a little steam, he managed to get himself photographed playing naked hijinks with some hot chicks in a Vegas hotel room.

Since nearly every woman in the world dreams about an evening with the bad boy Prince, I think he just did more for promoting Vegas than a hundred commercials.

The Prince did something sinful in Sin City?

While it can't hurt the city's image, I doubt that it helped. If it did, it couldn't help much.

Offers for a return visit are flooding in.

I mean, how many background stories can you do on the water canons of Bellagio when you can a photo of a naked Prince?

So now you can't get naked in a hotel room? Sad. From the hoopla I was thinking he was parading nude down the Strip, but he was just enjoying the perks of youth.

I'm really okay with that. There are pictures of the prince publically urinating but you'll have to google that yourself.
Someday, joor goin' to see the name of Googie Gomez in lights and joor goin' to say to joorself, "Was that her?" and then joor goin' to answer to joorself, "That was her!" But you know somethin' mister? I was always her yuss nobody knows it! - Googie Gomez

A source told how the prince and his pals invited up to six women back to his suite at the five-star hotel. “They went down to the hotel bar, met some girls and invited them up to their suite. It got pretty messy.”

...

What could possibly go wrong? And who could have predicted that at least 1 of these 6 ladies might own a cell phone with a camera?

This article says that bookings are at an all time high

Roughly 200 years ago, the future King George IV used to take a lock of hair from each girl that he slept with and put it in an envelope. Supposedly when he died they found a thousand envelopes. It's good to be a prince!

Of course George IV eventually grew into a fat pig (like Henry VIII before him). Images of KGIV as portrayed by Hugh Lauri in Blackadder, and in real life (the painting was probably unrealistically flattering).

The story raises a number of issues in the UK.

Press freedom vs intrusion. At the time of writing (i.e. before Friday's papers) no papers/mainstream TV were publishing the "naked" photos although they all admitted they were on the internet. After the Diana issue, the Levenson enquiry and phone hacking scandals, the press have been very careful about intrusion of this nature without it being in the public interest - indeed they have been treading very carefully with William and Kate.

Royal Family. There is more difference of opinion whether this harms the Royal Family even whether this is appropriate behaviour for an Army Officer. There are certain conventions / expected behaviour that Royals are supposed to follow. Due to the Olympics, William and Kate, the Queen and "James Bond" etc., the Royals were having a good year. Personally I'm not sure this will affect things much.

It would be interesting to hear what those of you in the US think, ie. do you really care? When does it become interesting: a minor pop star, a Hollywood star, a senate, a president (I remember a story somewhere!).

On scandal meter, seems about a 1 or 2 out of 10. He's not married, he's not normally associated with preaching about high moral standardss (afaik). No one is smoking dope. No one appears underage.

He lost his clothes playing strip billards. Sounds like a win win to me.

As Harry is unmarried, under 30, not seriously involved with anyone, not on official business, and the subject of considerable fantasies by million of American women, I would say that this is the subject of more amusement than scandal.

It is my belief that Charles is interested in winnowing down the royal family that is entitled to live in Kensington Palace, receive money from the allowance given by parliament in the civil list. I am assuming that when the Queen's first cousins (The Dukes of Gloucester and Kent and Prince Michael) that their descendants will not have any rights to live in Kensington Palace. Also that his nieces and nephews, Beatrice and Eugenie, and eventually Louise and James will not receive apartments or official royal duties.

But if he wants William and Harry and their wives and children to take on all the royal duties, then Harry will have to be more discreet. If he does this while on official travel the citizens will get upset.

I see that Prince Harry went on an official business in March costing over £100K (charged to taxpayers)
Scheduled flight (2 - 13 Mar 2012 ) LHR - Miami & Rio de Janeiro - LHR: £51,443
Charter flight (2 - 8 Mar 2012) Miami - Belize City - Nassau Int - Kingston - Montego Bay - Miami: £55,655
Visit by Prince Harry to Brazil and Diamond Jubilee visit on behalf of The Queen to the Bahamas, Jamaica and Belize.

Now, the next time he takes a trip, I am sure taxpayers of UK will want to know what he is doing on the trip.

Prince Andrew on official travel in Brazil

The charges of £51,443 for commercial flights always seem amazing to me. The absolute highest priced BA fare from London to Miami is £6,672 and Rio to London is £4,317. I can only conclude that is the price for his whole entourage.

First off, if I were British I would be constantly pissed off that my tax dollars were paying for these people to do whatever it is that they do. But since I'm not, I can just remain upset about where the US is spending its tax money and be amused by Prince Harry. I enjoyed this article - Prince Harry Should Be King of England, Mayor of Funkytown, Chief Inspector of Boobs.

Technically Prince Harry's money does not come from the taxpayers. None of the royals are paid salaries, per se. If PH is on official business, the taxpayers pick up things like first class plane fare and charter jet rental (which was roughly $150K on Harry's visit to South America in March on behalf of his grandmother).

But, in Britain, the personal fortunes are often traceable back centuries to a bit of medieval thuggery or "right of conquest". The wealthiest peer in Britain who is far richer than the royals is Gerald Grosvenor, 6th Duke of Westminster. His family purchase big tracts of land after the great plague (1664-66). These tracts of land are now neighborhoods in center city London. Included is the land where the US Embassy is located. Gerald Grosvenor's indiscretions include small crowds of prostitutes that visit his townhouse.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has released marketing materials in the past week pretending to be angry about the betrayal of Prince Harry.

Prince Harry starring in "Hangover 3"

The royal family has survived much worse than a Prince who loses his swimming suit.

Image of the Queen's youngest royal uncle, Prince George, in 1928 when he was age 25. Six years later he would become the Duke of Kent, and 8 years after that he would die under some strange circumstances.

  • The Duke of Kent is said to have been addicted to drugs (notably morphine and cocaine)
  • The Duke reportedly was blackmailed by a male prostitute to whom he wrote intimate letters.
    Both before and after his marriage, Prince George had a string of affairs with both men and women, from socialites to Hollywood celebrities. The better known of his lovers included the
  • black cabaret singer Florence Mills;
  • banking heiress Poppy Baring;
  • Margaret Whigham (socialite);
  • Barbara Cartland, later known as a romantic novelist; and
  • Jessie Matthews (musical star).
  • Claims that he had a 19-year affair with Noël Coward were denied by Coward's long-term boyfriend, Graham Payn. Intimate letters from the Duke to Coward are believed to have been stolen from Coward's house in 1942.
  • There is some suggestion that the duke had an affair with Indira Raje, the Maharani of Cooch Behar (1892–1968), in the late 1920s, according to British historian Lucy Moore.
  • The Duke was also extremely close to Henry "Chips" Channon.
  • One of his reported sexual liaisons was with his distant cousin Louis Ferdinand, Prince of Prussia;
  • Art historian Anthony Blunt was reputedly another intimate.
  • In addition to his legitimate children, the duke is said to have had a son by Kiki Preston (née Alice Gwynne, 1898–1946), an American socialite whom he reportedly shared in a ménage à trois with Jorge Ferrara, the bisexual son of the Argentine ambassador to the Court of St James's. Known as "the girl with the silver syringe", drug-addict Preston – a cousin of railroad heiress Gloria Vanderbilt – was married first to Horace R.B. Allen and then, in 1925, to banker Jerome Preston. She died after jumping out of a window of the Stanhope Hotel in New York City.
