Hello, I am a 3rd party banker in a Los Angeles Casino. I have been employed as a banker at several different casino's in Los Angeles for over 4 years now. I was first directed to your website from my trainer when I first began working for the "Corporation". And I must say that your information has assisted me and a lot of fellow employees with game mechanics, procedures, etc. Thank you.

Now to my question. There is a game in 3 or 4 Los Angeles casinos called "Baccarat Pair Pair Bonus". Now this bonus game is not to be confused with the Dragon Bonus or the Royal Bonus, which I am familiar with as well. The Pair Pair Bonus bet is a side bet made by players who have placed a standard bet on player or banker. The side bet is labeled as "Dealer Pair" and "Player Pair". This is an optional bet and the player can choose to bet on just the "Dealer Pair" or just the "Player Pair" or they can place a bet on both sides. 99.9% of the time the players play both the "Dealer Pair" and the "Player Pair" bonus to increase their chances of hitting the bonus. The players are allowed to bet anywhere from $5 up to $300 on the bonus. However they are not allowed to bet more on the bonus bet than they have bet on their regular bet. The players win their bonus bet if the first two cards on the player side are a pair or if the first two cards on the banker side are pairs. If both sides come pair in the same hand they will win the bonus pay out for both sides. There is a scale for the pay outs based on if the pairs are unsuited/different color, same color, or suited. The pay out is 6 to 1 if the pairs are unsuited/different color and 12 to 1 if the pairs are suited and finally 25 to 1 if the pairs are suited. The players love these bonus bets, and seem to do pretty well on this bonus bet. In fact we've been hit really hard with some shoes that have brought anywhere from 14 to 20 pair bonus pay outs. However I have seen some extremely rare shoes that only produce 5 pair bonuses. I want to know what the actual odds are that in an 8 deck shoe the first two cards on either side will be a pair (unsuited/different color & same color & suited) and also the odds both sides will come pair at the same time.

I have scanned over your website with a fine toothed comb and cannot find anything about this bonus or the odds. If I have overlooked it please direct me there and my apologies for wasting your time. Thank you for your time.

This bonus bet is available as a blackjack side bet in many places. It carries a house advantage of 4.06% for 8 decks based on the 6/12/25 payout as you described. The house advantage is exactly the same whether the game be blackjack or baccarat.
