I just returned from a trip to Vegas, and at one of the off-strip casinos, I played at a Free Ride blackjack table where the dealer was paying an extra bet for the free splits and doubles.
Example 1: player wagers $10 and receives 8-3. Free double. Player wins. Dealer pays $10 on the original bet, Plus $20 for the winning double. Plus the original bet which was returned. So a total of $30 paid out on a $10 bet. From $10 to $40.
Example 2: player wagers $10 and receives 8-8. Free split. Both hands win. Dealer pays out $10 on the original hand (and I retain the original bet), plus $20 on the second hand. Same thing, from $10 to $40.
The same was true for re-splits as well. Basically the dealer was replacing the free ride markers with chips if the player won, plus paying off the bets.
This was my first time playing the game so I didn't know that the dealer was paying it out incorrectly. Only confirmed later.
I assume this is a heavy player advantage under these rules. Anyone have an estimate for what the player edge would be?
Reluctant to name the casino cause I don't want the dealer to get fired.
