Quote: gamerfreakWas the promo where you went different, in that the prizes were paid in promo chips? Philly said cash.
yes, my casino is promo chips.
but it's almost the same thing.
the promo chips prizes were 2x that of the cash prizes in Philly.
$500 cash 777 was $1000 promo chips, so a couple of $ less than cash when playing craps.
note: you get paid 1x instead of 1.5x for blackjack when playing w/promo chips at my casino. :(
hence craps is the best game to use it on.
Quote: WizardofnothingIt specifically said cash- if it's promo chips we aren't even sitting down
hence why there was only 1 counter at this promo event at my local casino?
which is good. all the casual players were whooping it up and their energy made it a fun atmosphere.

Even if it paid 3:2, craps still prolly better value.
You said all but a few were betting the minimum that would suggest that many were sharps.Quote: 100xOddshence why there was only 1 counter at this promo event at my local casino?

sharp = not a ploppie?
everyone at my table was playing correct basic strategy, except when chasing the 5+ card 21 and 777.
and no one was playing the silly side bets.
I still cant believe they offered a promo worth $100+/hr!
or somehow I graduated from flea status and now getting the better offers???
anyway, philly's harrahs event, on the other hand, is open to all.
I can predict a mad house.
it's tonite. cant wait for the trip reports tomorrow!
be interesting to hear if it's csm or not. (mine's surprisingly was not. they just used an auto-shuffler.)

How was it last night in Harrah's Philly at the Blackjack Mania tables?
Quote: houyiAt least at my table, there weren't any other APs. People weren't playing the bonuses optimally, and everyone was playing the sidebet throughout. Solely based on appearances, I think it was mostly civilians. It was a good bit of fun though and I made about a grand off the promotion bonuses.
csm?
how crowded?
was it first come first serve? what time did the people arrive to wait in line?
and congrats on $1k cash in bonuses! that's double expectation. (~$125/hr = $500 in 4 hrs)
Which promo hands did u get?

That was interesting. I clicked through and saw this promotion: "When you check in and pay a special room rate to stay at the Wyndhamd Garden Hotel Philadelphia Airport, you will receive $100 in free slot play redeemable at Harrah's Philadelphia. " (sic).Quote: Ibeatyouraceshttps://www.caesars.com/harrahs-philly/casino/harrah-s-philly-promotion#.V176uKDD8b0
Looks like the average room rate there is about $130/night+tax so that is a significant discount assuming you can get about $95 back from the freeplay.

Yea I thought it was a good deal too, but I put in the promo code and the "average" rate jumped up $100
That's dumb.Quote: gamerfreakYea, but I put in the promo code and the "average" rate jumped up $100
I didn't realize the casino was so close to PHL. They should run a half-hourly shuttle so you can gamble during your layover.

Yea, I love driving people to the airport now. It gives me an excuse to gamble.
The promo tables were fairly crowded but I think there were actually 1-2 total spots open on the 4 tables pretty much throughout the night. I actually showed up literally 5 minutes before and was able to get a seat right away. Again, the promo didn't seem to get many (any?) sharp attention. It was just ordinary regs. One of the regs said that this was actually like an annual thing for the casino.
I got 3 five card 21s for 250 each (including one where I hit a 4 card soft 21 which at first made the table and dealer groan but once I showed them step by step, they all agreed it was the smart thing to do), a Red Ace, Black Jack for 100, and a Black Ace, Black Jack for 150. The guy next to me got like 5 opportunities for 3 7s throughout the night but nobody ever hit that.
