I used to play vp but I got into keno and love it, where can you bet .05 and win $350. My question is about the casino setting the payback percent. Know that the rule is that if the paytable is posted it means certain odds. (vp-9-6=99.54 ect) is this the same with keno. The reason I ask I play a lot of keno and I have had the attendent set the speed (play slower play higher amount of money) and in the process I have on one screen seen different %s indications 87%,91%-94%. But like most players I know that some machines play better than others. My wife and I have been doing this for almost 20years and their is a difference in machines we think anyway. The main reason this had come up is that most of the casinos have a paytable on multicard that is 68 coins for a 5 out of 6 and 400 for a 6 out of 7, but at this one casino the paytable is 75 for a 5out of 6 any 422 for a 6out of 7, seems that this would be great, I have lost at lot of money this past week and have not hit a 6 or 7 spot. I play a lot and even yesterday I was playing at this casino and didnt hit anything and went to another casion that has the 68 coins for a 5 out of 6, ect and hit a 6 spot for 1500 coins. I usally hit a 7 spot and a lot of 6 spots but at this casino with the better paytable I have not hit anything yet. Their are 4 of these machines and I have tried them all. Again the question can the payout be great and the percent hold for the Casino be so bad that the great paytable doesnt mean anything. Thanks for the answers.

In all of the major regulated jurisdictions (Nevada, New Jersey, etc) the paytable is the sole determination of the payback percentage. You can use the Wizards keno calculator at the wizardofodds.com site to calculate the payback percentage.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

DRich is correct, it should also be mentioned that the Wizard has done full break-downs of many other games beyond straight Keno, such as Cleopatra Keno and Caveman Keno...there are others.
