Although he Walter Koenig was 9 years older and a completely different ethnic background, he got the job of playing Pavel Chekov mostly because of his resemblance to Davy Jones. The producers thought he might attract younger girls to the show. Being an actor is a funny profession. You could have your life's work defined by something relatively trivial.

That is old news. I mean REALLY old news.
My wife and I were listening to an oldies station this past Sunday. The 2 minute obit for Davy Jones had more Star Trek and Walter Koenig info than Davy & Monkeys combined. It's like they couldn't think of anything to say about Davy or the Monkeys.
Hell, they even had sound bites from Ricardo Mantalban as Khan, but nothing from the Monkeys.
