However, here is a Trivia Question: How many times does the word "democracy" appear in the U.S. Constitution?
Also, take this quiz to determine which "Founding Father" you are most like (and report it here). Will anyone get, "Thomas Jefferson"?
Didn't vote on the trivia yet, somewhat uncomfortable seeing polls without the "Logan option" ;)
I scored James Madison, which turns out to be appropriate.
Interesting quiz, it said Washington for me, too.
I voted 0, as I think the Constitution talks about a republic mostly.
I scored Madison.

So what's the official answer?
I put zero because this is supposed to be a republic, not a democracy. For those who don't know the difference, in a republic we elect leaders to use their best judgment to govern. A democracy is majority rules. I hope I got that right.

Sorry about that. I thought my response with the answer had been saved some time ago, but apparently not.
In any case, the members of the board again demonstrate a strong aptitude for reasoning out answers, (or good guessing). The correct response is "zero". The word "democracy" does not appear once in the 4,400 words that make up the Constitution. For more interesting facts, check out this website.

Well Republican doesn't appear very often either. The word God also does not appear.

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
Is Canada a republic or a democracy or both?
