Archangel is a 3 part tv movie (45 minutes apiece) that was made by Daniel Craig shortly before his first James Bond role.

It's not a great film, but it is a good story. Some of us older guys miss the movies built around real life historical events. In this case it is the story of Josef Stalin's death.

The movie makes an important point. There are no German's that are wistful about the good old days of Adolf Hitler. Yet there was a time when a huge percentage of the population saw him as the savior of their nation. That is because Adolf Hitler was exorcised from the soul of the nation by the Nuremberg trials and the images of concentration camps forced onto people by the occupying forces.

Some cultures never exorcised their demons completely. Stalin and Franco both died in their beds as old men. There is a residual feeling of respect for men who made things happen and to kept their nations on top.

Stalin did it by killing far more than Hitler did ... many times over what Hitler did.
Franco? It all started in Spain. The testing grounds for officers and equipment.
Mussolini? His making the trains run on time was great but it was mainly hype. After all, an army that had to use machine guns, tanks and poison gas against an enemy armed with spears really can't make its trains run on time.
