Wordle #1890 August 22: 2/6 eagle

🟩🟨🟨⬜⬜ PARSE / GYYBB
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 PRAWN / Correct

With G = 1, Y = ½, & B = 0, I scored 2 and 5.

I spent less than one minute solving this one. I first thought of PRANK, but that's a past answer.

Lifetime I now have 15 more birdies than pars.

Eagle #155 and back-to-back eagles for this old dog.

My streak is at a new personal high of 505.

I'd like to offer some free gambling books to my Wordle friends. Here is what I've got as of 8/23/26. All I ask is that you repay me the cost of shipping via UPS. Let me know which specific books you want, as pictured below.

Funny—I’ve been also thinking about offering one of my books. Would any Wordle players want Stanford Wong’s “Optimal Strategy for Pai Gow Poker” book?

If not, I’ll offer it to the Pai Gow Poker thread.

Not only that but that book is based on California rules where the joker is fully wild. Certainly a book that never did much for me, as much as I respect the author.

Feel free to mention it to anyone.

What is this, Only Connect, with the category with five possibilities? Okay, to be fair, "as described," only the four were correct.

For those of you not familiar with the wrestling terms:
Face (aka Babyface) - a "good guy"
Heel - a "bad guy"
Jobber - someone who consistently loses, usually a no-name (to "job," or "do a job," is to lose a match)
Kayfabe - the pretense/facade that everything is real

It's actually a carnival/circus term, for the "code of carnies." That's also where the wrestling term "mark," referring to someone who thinks that everything in wrestling is real, comes from; it appears to have two different sources.
One - the carnival barker would make an announcement to everyone on the midway, warning them that pickpockets were working the area. Every man would feel for his wallet to make sure it was still there, and carnies would then go around marking them with surreptitions chalk marks on their backs, indicating just where the wallets were located.
Two - when someone lost on, say, the shell game or Three-Card Monte, the dealer would pat them on the back - leaving a chalk mark on the shoulder as a sign that this was a rube ripe for the picking.

Yes Ive read numerous books that have mentioned “ mark” but had never heard Kayfabe. I worked with a guy that had spent 5 years as a carny and knew some of the lingo and could speak their gibberish. Very interesting.
