I saw articles about yesterday's Wordle word and how people were upset by it.

One of the grievances was that it wasn't on a list of Wordle words (or perhaps "the" list). My question is: why do people need a list, and how do they use it? (OK, that was two questions.)

One of my guesses one day was BETTY, and I assumed it wasn't the actual word, but was accepted input. I assume that would never be an actual word? No more than NOMAR would? (As in Nomar Garciaparra.)

While BETTY is a proper noun, it is also a common noun, meaning a type of fruit dessert like a cobbler: that's why it was accepted as a guess.

Wordle #1852 was tough, with a nearly 10% failure rate and an average score of 5.1 to solve. I too mentioned that "Tracy strayed from the list of 2309 Wordle answers", but that is not an unusual occurrence.

Thanks for the info. I did not know the dessert definition�I know it as slang for an attractive woman. ("She's such a Betty!")

So what is this list of 2309 Wordle answers, and if it's from the Wordle people, why don't they actually stick with it?

I spent about two minutes solving this one.
