I like AW's suggestion of using math to determine if a bet is +EV.
I wouldn't be opposed to letting my share ride, but I'd rather do it on a bet that will be resolved in a few days, not 7 months.Quote: WizardI can confirm Axel gave me the winnings. I would prefer to not have to make payment arrangements to two dozen different people. Anyone interested in letting your share ride on ZenKing's "lock of the century #2"? The current line at 5dimes is Bulls over 29.5 season wins at -130? I'll personally book the other side. Who is up for letting it ride?
I know its a PITA to deal with 25 separate people who want to do 25 separate things with their winnings. So, I'll happily go along with whatever is easiest/ the majority. I really appreciate the time and effort Wizard and Axel have put forth to basically give me free money.
I'm not requesting this, but personally, I would like to see my winnings put on a parlay or other such bet that will either lose or win big enough to make it worthwhile for me to pick it up personally. But, like I said, I'm down for whatever is easiest for those having to do the work.

How do we balance the wizards request to not deal with a dozen different payment requests? Do we need to name an individual to receive all money and distribute or reinvest?

I agree with the 7 month thing and gambling until you lose which is why I suggested 2-3 bets.
That being said I do remember the wizard saying he would be willing to make bets based on his picks for the big pool which I would be game for as well.

Dunno... I might have missed a post somewhere.
Quote: gordonm888Could someone please repeat: What is the notification action we are requested to do by Sept 19?
I don't know what the 19th was about and don't see a post with a quick check.
There was a request thar everyone declare in or out by Sept 21 with unJon offering to sweeten the pot by $150 on a particular bet, about 3 pages back. Perhaps that's it?
Or perhaps I'm just not seeing whatever was asked on the 19th.
Edit: my portion I mean obviously.
Ya, but what about his master craps hit and run system, that's golden.Quote: PokerGrinderI’m very out on betting WMW’s teasers. If that’s where we are at then I’m out. Special thanks to Keeneone, prozema and Rigondeaux.
I will get the money to Mike at our convenience and you all can figure out what you want to do next.
Yes, that is understandable. Anyway, please forgive me if in all the "excitement" that I lost track of what the total fund is / typical equity share. 23 members are in it, I think. Can someone clarify ?Quote: WizardI can confirm Axel gave me the winnings. I would prefer to not have to make payment arrangements to two dozen different people.
I'm not fond of a -EV round #2.
But I wouldn't mind a random drawing to up the prize to $ 50 or $ 75 or dare I say it $ 100 for however many members the funds can cover. This would reduce the number of pay-outs that have to be made. Somewhere earlier someone mentioned a Winner Take All. This is like that, except more winners and less $ for each of those winners.
BUT the drawback I see here is getting everyone to agree to anything.
Maybe just bite the bullet and make the distributions via the easiest system, whatever that is. The game was set-up with this kind of eventuality.
Quote: AxelWolfYa, but what about his master craps hit and run system, that's golden.
I was going to say the same thing, but I thought it was rude, even though the suggestion to keep gambling in lieu of a bunch of small payments was expecting we would lose. Wizard is trying to use the marty on us.Quote: prozemaI'm not down with a gambling until I lose strategy.

I apologise if the question was rude.
Here is another bad idea... If we get our payout in pesos, it will look like we won more. :-)
I will give people to the end of September to declare here, either they're done or they want their pool money to remain in a pool. If those that are done want me to, I will allow the Wizard to send me that lump sum, and I will distribute it on October 1, not before.
This is just an offer to help if that seems the best option for both Wizard and the players. You're welcome to pursue any other avenues.
Quote: beachbumbabsI'm going to offer a 1 time option. The issue I have is, I just did this for the NFL picks, and I'm reluctant to churn my accounts, but I've had no pushback from PayPal or Amazon yet, so here it is.

BBB. Thanks for doing this for us. If you receive any heat I'm happy to offer my Paypal and Amazon account as an alternate option. Obviously I don't have the tenure or mod status, so my offer is clearly not as good as yours.

Are there other wagers the Wizard and the Big Pool can agree on that will be resolved sooner? How about the World Series or Superbowl?
I would like out. I prefer PayPal, but Amazon cards will work for me.
For those of you who wish to keep going, it sounds like what you want is a betting club. Don't bother trying to get agreement from the cooperation game big poolers, just cash out and form your own group. That will get all of the non-interested parties out of the loop, and relieve Wizard from wrangling your pool of funds.

Thanks Barbara. I sure would accept this kind offer. It is always busy for me close to G2E and would love to delegate the payment distribution off.

I assisted, and I don't think it's rude to withdraw now.

I'm with you in that my plan was to stay in the group and try to parlay it into something big. But I don't think it's rude if people want to walk with their winnings now. In fact, I think it is a win-win. I'm not a sports bettor, but I would imagine that it's easier to get a multi-team parlay down with less money than with more.
For those interested in staying in the pool and trying to parlay, I think the biggest hurdles are deciding what to bet on, and getting someone to actually do it. Last time, we had the help of Wizard's 1/2 point NFL parlay picks to get the pool down on a +EV parlay. Given the WOV Picks Game results thus far, maybe we should bet a 5-team parlay of JohnZimbo's picks for Week 3! ;)
More and more, I appreciate Romes for what he helped organize for the last co-op game.

I disagree. As far as I knew, Axel’s +EV play was what we decided to do with the pool.
The reason given for wanting to continue with another bet was the administrative burden of distributing funds. What other option is there? If we won the next play, we’d have the same amount of people to distribute funds to. The only alternative is to gamble until we lose, which I’d rather not be a part of.
I appreciate everything Axel, Wiz, BBB, and others have done. But I don’t think wanting to get out before going bust is rude.
THANKS again !
