I think we all understand this already, but some forum rules are suspended for this contest. For example, I can quote the PM where Ayecaramba voted 10 in this round. Since lying is specifically allowed, I would say that this misquoting by OnceDear falls under that.

THanks,
Table updated. Under normal circumstances, it SHOULD pretty much be sowed up.

However, two possibilities remain..(maybe more). A low numbered big pool member has sold his soul OR we have identified a Big Pool player incorrectly in the table. He'd still have to have a low number. Some suspected Axel was such a rogue, but I doubt it.
Would someone take the trouble to cross check identified big poolers with their declarations in the last several hundred posts
:o)
No, thought not.
Any other ideas about how 'big pool might fail?
Small pool have been very quiet in the thread. Suspiciously so.

Ok, I think the big pool has this covered. I know 8 and 15 have not committed pubicaly, but I believe those guy are aware of the strategy and if they don't play along we know who to blame.

If anyone on the big pool has to still vote, an extra in 15 and 8 would be the place I'd put them as an insurance policy.

Anyway, I've done way too much work for 19 nickles, so I'm going to take a little break.

Edit... 8, not 7.

If the table has the wrong names, we just blame her majesty, right? The table makers are all British as best I can tell. I've seen Austin Powers... I'm not worried.

Seriously though... Thanks for making the table and keeping it up to date!

7 is a lock. It's 8 we could do with an extra safety bid.

Since troopscot hasnt declared, could FACE maybe lock that down? Vote for 8

I fixed my post to say 8, not 7.

8 and 15 are the wild cards... OD is correct.

I've been asked to step in and vote 8 to insure it's covered. I previously voted 18.

Before I do:

Is there anyone NOT NAMED AYECARUMBA who already covered that number? Lol.

I am really enjoying your mischief. This game finally got fun.

I have already voted 8. Not sure how OD and prozema saying I knew the strategy and had it covered did not lead you to trust I had it covered. Vote the other number because I can not be sure what they did

Perfect, thanks. I won't vote it, then. As I said, I was asked, just before I posted, to do it: it was not a matter of me not trusting you. Other people have stepped up and are doing PMs and tabulating behind the scenes, so without your public statement, someone was not sure you were locked in. That's actually why I asked in the thread before I changed my vote. All good.

I would not bother getting votes in for 9-16. Probably 8 or less is a lock, wouldn't change those low number votes, not likely for there to be duplicates. If the big pool loses with lucky 11 or unlucky 13, blame it on the alcohol.

Sorry to hear that Gordon. My father and father in law died in the last four years. If you need a listening ear or anything else, let me know.

I just got caught up in the Coop Game thread and found your post to me. Thank you for the kind words and the sentiments you expressed. It really means a lot to me.

As I have said to some others, one of the things I have come to realize through this ordeal is the surprising power of simple kindness to encourage and lift the heart. Several other forum regulars have reached out to me as well. One of them, unexpectedly to me, was AxelWolf - who I apparently misjudged and have been unfair to. I guess I'm doing a lot of that lately and I'm sorry for that. I have never actually physically met anyone on the WOV forum, but I have been almost brought to tears by the notes I have received -it has meant that much to me.

So again, thank you. And thank you for creating and running a forum that has so many good people on it.
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

OK Guys, courtesy of UK Mark. Let's take this forward as the live table.
PLEASE DON'T QUOTE IT. I'll add in any edits as votes come in.

Four Things:

1.) Just out of curiosity, why am I assigned a number in any chart? I'm not even in the main pool.

2.) No Thank You's from Page 172 until, well, now, I guess. I haven't been on for about two days and I'm not going through to Thank You all the posts.

3.) However, reading the last several pages of complete and total incompetence has been hilarious. So, big group THANK YOU to the big pool.

4.) Nathan is funny. You guys should be more selective about who you let in the pool. That's not an insult, but everyone knows Nathan likes to have her fun here and there.

Dude, what's your problem?

I'm just sitting back and enjoying the incompetence.

All you guys have to do is cover more numbers than we possibly can, so what is, "Suspicious?" There's nothing for us to talk about.

Further, I've already announced that I picked a number between one million and ten million...and I did precisely that.

Incompetence? We successfully herded a whole slew of cats! It may not have been pretty, but I'm confident we got the job done in the end.

I think the majority of the confusion was due to the fact that, like you, many of the big poolers did not check in for a few days during this round. Anyway, I'm glad we could entertain you! :)

Thanks to prozema, OD, and anyone else who did a crazy amount of legwork to ensure we all got our $0.95! And kudos to Ayecarumba. Like Babs said, his shenanigans made this round fun. Aye, I think your avatar worked against you. Every time I looked at one of your posts, I saw Snidely, and read your posts with a sinister accent in my head!

Incompetence.

1.) You guys should have just started at, "1," and had big poolers publicly announce they had taken the next number. You could have sent PM's to big poolers directing them all to the thread to do just that. Instead, you guys all managed to go back and forth with different charts and this and that publicly. I can't believe it took literal days for you guys to find a way to get it right!

2.) Even then, like with worrying about TroopScott, everyone should have been specifically directed to send one central leader a PM OR post in the thread once they had selected the appropriate number. If that happened, then you wouldn't have to worry about whether or not they did it.

3.) Yes, thanks to them! Way more legwork than it should have taken. Again, you could just have a list that starts like this:

Quote:

Mission146: 1

Then, the person who takes two can copy that and:

Quote:

Mission146: 1
Unnamed Forum Member: 2

Then, the next person who takes a number copies that and adds his/her name to it.

Yayyyy, looks like SooPoo snagged it for us ( goes away to check SooPoo is in the big pool )

Mission and Ayecarumba threw in the towel, but MaxPen and RS had a decent stab at it.

We did it very clumsily, but we did it. A bit like some team building exercise where the first few tries are a shambles.

Well done all. Thx Mike.

Now what's this talk about something getting doubled up?

While clearly stated NOT final, looks like SOOPOO has it with #2?

Mission - I wanted to do that, but here's the problem: In each round we really need to have 1 big pooler step up and be the leader. Then things can run 100x as smooth. The problem with that is not everyone agrees on a leader, or they don't check the thread enough to know who it is, etc.

My thought was to start with ONE PERSON (I'd volunteer) picking a number, and passing a PM along with all the names/numbers from the blank list of our names. Each person picks a number on the list then passes the PM along to the next. The PROBLEM though again is people can be away for a day or two and not pass it along in time, so we have to do it more ad hoc in the thread... not to mention not everyone on a team might want to just do what 1 person says so we need some form of democratic voting even among our big pool group. Of course it would be easier if we appointed 1 leader per round though.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

I didn't throw in any towel. I posted, almost immediately after the game was announced, that I was picking a number between one million and ten million to make sure that we didn't duplicate ourselves to $0. That's essentially the same strategy I said we should do the previous round when it was teams and I suggested my team take #4.

If you guys want to operate as one pool, then the first person to declare himself/herself the leader in the thread is the leader. That person needs to then take it upon himself/herself to PM everyone in the big pool the strategy. I know we can't send to multiple recipients, but that's where the, "Forward," function combined with the computer's, "Open link in new tab," function come in handy.

I know I'm not in the big pool, but would you like me to manage you guys next game? It will be much more efficient.

Quote:

My thought was to start with ONE PERSON (I'd volunteer) picking a number, and passing a PM along with all the names/numbers from the blank list of our names. Each person picks a number on the list then passes the PM along to the next. The PROBLEM though again is people can be away for a day or two and not pass it along in time, so we have to do it more ad hoc in the thread... not to mention not everyone on a team might want to just do what 1 person says so we need some form of democratic voting even among our big pool group. Of course it would be easier if we appointed 1 leader per round though.

No, you don't need to Democratic anything. You need one person to take control and say, "This is what we're doing." The money is all going to the same place, anyway, as I understand it. Are you guys not dividing the proceeds equally at the end?

Incompetence.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means! ;)

in·com·pe·tence
noun
inability to do something successfully;

By definition, not incompetence! :)

Then, the person who takes two can copy that and:

Then, the next person who takes a number copies that and adds his/her name to it.

Yes, that was SOOPOO's strategy. I agree, if people would have followed that strategy, it would have been more efficient. But the problem was that many big poolers were not paying attention until yesterday. We still would have been trying to herd cats like we did the past couple of days.

BTW, it looks like SOOPOO was the winner after all. So all strategy after his declaration was moot.

At time of first usage, it was not clear that you had done it successfully. The results hadn't been announced yet. In fact, a few of you were worried you had not done it successfully.

But, we'll strike incompetent.

The big pool's efforts were inefficient to the point of being laughable. Is that better?

That's why someone should have taken charge and PM'ed all big poolers. It honestly only takes about a minute to send twenty PM's (not counting the initial PM).

By the way, by saying everything that took place after #2 was declared...the dozens or more pages of you guys trying to get your acts together...was moot...you get that doesn't make you guys look any better, right?

Happy to help.

One correction... It's $1.90. we're gonna double it up!

I'm sorry? Who's doubling what? I didn't see that.

I'm not clear on any details but I heard there was some kind of group parlay last time. I vaguely recall Romes being involved in that somehow. I also recall Axel mentioning for some low risk video poker thing... But I'm not going to go reread 180 pages to find it.

Anyway, I'll just double mine on my own if I'm imagining things.

It appears to make no difference, but UKMark is on Wizard's table twice as having submitted a 7 and a 9. (he's 5th from the top and 14th from the bottom.)

Perhaps, UKMark should be the big pool leader for round 12, because he contrived the most clever strategy of all for round 11.

Having just caught up with it all and yes I have somehow and unknowingly managed to vote and be counted twice. I can assure you I only voted once for #7.

Not sure about the clever strategy for rd11 though, plus as we're back to the share/steal rules I'm sure chaos will be in charge.
