Misplaced? Mis-bloody-placed ! How very dare you.
We let you borrow our language, crafted over centuries, and you lot vandalised it by statutory instrument. I've a good mind to write to Her Maj to suggest that we revoke your tenuous rights to use it. Get back to the Genoan dialect of Italian and see how far you get. $:o)
And don't get me started on 'aluminium', 'jewellery' and that one that some past presidents struggle with, 'nuclear'

For anyone who doesn't realise, that was Catherine Tate, Brit comedian. 'How very dare you' is a catchphrase of one of her characters.Quote: KeeneoneQuote: OnceDear-snip- How very dare you.

Some swearing... Well, lots actually.
Oh hum... Enough of a thread hijack. Let's knock it on the head before we have to split it off as 'Limeys' corner.

Gee. I thought you were on a multi-day deep sea dive or something. Nice to hear from you. But if you had bid low enough to win, it would have helped both the big pool and the small pool, so I hope you at least considered doing that. Team 2 seemed to be the only one in position to serve both. Since I'm not a captain and privy to any pm plans, I'll shut up now.

Yeah, trust me, I felt terrible that I was so busy this weekend and didn’t have the time to strategize properly for this round of play - and for that I apologize. I should have assigned someone on my team as the captain now that I look back upon it. I received no PM’s asking me to bid low, in fact quite the contrary, so I’ll assume the other captains had no interest in helping both pools either. Haha.
Team 5 Team 5 Ra Ra Ra.
Thanks to SME777 for poisoning the 1. Thank to team 2 for guaranteeing the prize.

You are on my team. Your preferred number is irrelevant. I've voted '1'
Quote: AxelWolfIf The Wizard does the same thing for the next round but does away with a team captains I am picking 1. Sending my preselected number Via PM now.
You guys will be able to play without worrying about duplicating yourselves out of a prize, I'm picking a number between 1,000,000 and 10,000,000.
I imagine we'll see heavy big pool collusion next round if the majority of players are big poolers.

Congratulations to team 5 for winning with a lone 2!
Here the rules for round 11 -- Same thing as round 10 except everybody submits his/her own number. In other words, no teams, it will be every man for himself.
$25 prize again. Picks due 9 AM Vegas time on Friday.
As a reminder, please put your number in the subject line of your PM and an "nc" to indicate there is no content in the body of your PM. You will have to put at least five characters in the body, so just write "I love math." or something like that.

Welp, here we go big poolers. We obv can't allow a small pooler to get the $25... so we should flex our strength in our numbers. We need to get all the big poolers on the same page and just take 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc, etc. That way no small pooler can win as we have more members. Thus the first one a small pooler doesn't vote on, that will be our big pooler winning. All others will be duplicates and not win.
Basically assume there are 25 big poolers (fix for whatever the real number is) we assign numbers 1 to 25 for the big poolers and no matter what the small poolers or indepents bid a big pooler is guaranteed to win.
Way to post an original idea ;-)... ha must have beat you by a minute or so. But yes, THIS IS THE STRATEGY FOR THIS ROUND.Quote: PokerGrinderI’m not sure exactly how many big poolers there are but there is a very simple way to assure a big pooler wins this round (sorry small pool, only can be one winner this round).

If we all vote as per this schedule, then the Big Pool steals the prize for sure.
If you've already voted, so long as its only very few of you, then it doesn't matter.

No joke.. a couple of little ditties...
There was a young lady from bude,
Who went for a swim in a lake,
A man in a punt,
Stuck a pole in her ear,
and said 'You can't swim here: Its private'
There was a young man from Devizes
Had 3 balls of all different sizes
1 ball was small 1 ball was tall
The other one huge and won prizes.

Coming from the old green who went true blue,
This may come as a surprise though it's true;
It turns out I much prefer my new hue,
'Cause I can say what I want to all of you.

Those who already posted, swapsie with the person whose vote you spoiled.
The strategies need not be in conflict. If each big pool member reads his suggested vote from your list and if someone else has already used it, just swap with them.Quote: JoemanWell, now it appears that we have competing big pooler strategies. Since it looks like SOOPOO's strategy has already gotten some traction, maybe that is the way to go. Should I edit my earlier post in favor of this strategy?
OK, I have updated my list to reflect Axel's and SOOPOO's votes.Quote: OnceDearThe strategies need not be in conflict. If each big pool member reads his suggested vote from your list and if someone else has already used it, just swap with them.
I don’t have a problem with the big pool strategy, it makes complete sense, I just see no reason not to declare this round for the big pool so as to save time. It also ensures the money goes out, which is fine.
Since it’s all individual, there are only three possibilities:
-All money goes to big pool.
-All money goes to small pool.
-All money goes to one person.
I don’t see how the big pool doesn’t have this covered.
Quote: JoemanOK, I have updated my list to reflect Axel's and SOOPOO's votes.
Thank you Joeman. I think your chart is great. Same idea as mine essentially; mine just has the advantage of people picking sequentially locking up the low numbers. Your system fails if, say, number 3 forgets to send the email and 3 non poolers take 1, 2, and 3. My way the big poolers has to affirmatively state what number they have chosen, and would do it sequentially. that way if a big pooler or two does not submit a number there is no risk.
Quote: DJTeddyBearSince the rules for this level, and subsequent strategy, make it very self-serving for the undecideds to declare a desire to join the pool, I assume that the pool is closed.
Therefore I can now publicly declare a desire to be independent and NOT part of any pool.
Note: I was also not part of a pool in the last game.
I would STILL vote for any independent or small pooler to be able to join the big pool. The entire idea was to cooperate to take Mike's money. In the unlikely event that the big poolers luck into some parlay or AP opportunity via Axel, I would be happy if all members of the WoV forum could participate. THAT would show the ultimate level of cooperation among the forum members; if the present big poolers would give up a few sheckels to let lower funded independents or small poolers in.
I'll bet an AP that shares a play at a present loss of EV, eventually makes it up and more when the person or persons you shared the play with do the same for you.
