The arrival of E-ZPass on the turnpike and parkway showed dramatically just how unneeded most of them were.

If necessary, just pay them to do nothing. My main objective is to clear up the congestion caused by the toll booths.

This is how almost everyone (who isn't arguing about it or making money from reporting it) feels about the whole thing:

Uh oh, somebody started a thread about the Christie bridge scandal.
Now all the conservatives will be up in arms on this board.
Its the prevailing opinion on this board by conservatives that libs are not allowed to attack a repub till they attack Obama.
The attacks are coming.
Their argument will go something like "Obama has done a lot worst" to try to change the subject.
The conservatives playbook on this board is, don't defend, attack.

Here it comes. Let me get out the popcorn lol

Hey I leave you all unsupervised for a few hours and look what happens ! Your mother and I are very, very disappointed.

The silver lining for Christie, (if he survives this) is this happened now, not a year or more from now. Even if he is never proven to have direct involvement, it would have blown apart an active campaign for quite awhile.

The best outcome he can hope for is he is accused of not knowing what is going on in his own office at the very top level. He can't ever look like he had a hint this was going on, so I think that's the only possibility left.

Other Republican candidates will be using it against him more than likely.

The overhead high-speed readers achieve that easily. Going 80 or 85 m.p.h. without slowing down or other consequences is pretty good.

Taxed Enough Already. Simple concept. Its not a political party but maybe it should be.

Never happen. Would put hundreds of people out
of work and all that cash would stop rolling in.

It's not (entirely) about jobs. For 75 years, the Golden Gate Bridge has had a toll, but in 2013 the toll collectors all lost their jobs. The toll is collected electronically now.
