I wonder if it was based on Last Measure. If you don't know what Last Measure is, decide if you really want to see something intended as "the nuclear option" for web attacks. But some of the random voices screaming "Hey everybody! I'm looking at gay porno!" are priceless, so it's worth your time if are desensitized enough.
Commercial porn, or generally porn designed for intentional consumption, generally does not come in the form of instant slideshow autoplay. It could be some sort of a menu, but you can't just go ahead and copy a DVD to a USB drive, you'd rip or image it, that won't autoplay. CDs used to have autoplay menus, and they would work like that, but CD porn in this day and age - seriously, for something as mainstream as just gay porn? Also, you would notice when copying your presentation there.
I would give the benefit of the doubt here and lean towards assuming someone played this joke on him. I used to set browser start pages via RDC to something from Christmas Island, it's pretty funny. Well, used to be pretty funny.

gotta feel for the guy at least a little bit. i don't care what religion you are, everybody sins to some extent, some a lot more than others, and to "come out" in this fashion is quite traumatic for anyone. Is he stupid for having that on his flash drive, yes. Do I still feel bad for him, yes.

To be honest, this may not be "coming out" at all. The possibility exists that he is questioning his sexuality and his role. As a priest, he took a vow of celibacy, so he's more asexual than anything. I'm pretty sure if he did identify he'd say gay, but that's not necessarily the case here.

Note how it's most all for discs, not flash drives.
I mean, you have to set several things up a specific way to get a porn slideshow accidentally instant-play from a USB stick (and who watches slideshows anymore, is it like 1975?). You can also easily set them that way intentionally - it's a great prank.
Just in terms of probabilities, this is a bit cool for a coincidence, and I'd give more than 50% to intentional.

Like I said, specific devices were below, I left them out because it's none of y'alls business what I have plugged in. Speculating about how he uses technology is worse than speculating about his sexual preference to me. Personally, I don't let anyone lay a finger on my peripherals, media storage or otherwise. Even if this was a prank, it is his own fault.

It was made by a company called Hartland Plastics. They were clueless. The original ones show up on EBay once in a while but you can get reproductions for like $20.
I have a bewitched egg that I use to play VP with and I have net over 900k with it.
