L'Auberge in Lake Charles offers:
- 9/6 J or Better in 25c, $1, $2, and $5.
- other full pay VP (mixed in with non-full pay, so you have to look)
- 20x odds on craps
- 2 deck & 6 deck Blackjack paying 3:2 on BJ, resplit any two cards 3 times (including Aces), double down any two cards.
- 1 deck Blackjack paying 3:2 on BJ
- 1st class hotel rooms: clean, robe, coffee maker, full toiletries
- lazy river pool for hotel guests
- great buffet & other decent restaurants

Seems to me like the property is nicer than most strip properties with better playing conditions than most places in Las Vegas.

I don't know anything about their single deck and double deck games (do you know what the minimum is for double deck? CBJN says it's $100 a hand but with only a 0.14 percent house edge...sweet!)...but the six deck shoe game is actually better at Mandalay Bay and a few other MGMMirage casinos in Vegas only because of the "late surrender" option which isn't available at your casino in Lake Charles. Still....it seems like a GREAT place to play blackjack! Enjoy it.

Why do you call it a Vegas Casino if it's in LA?

Dammit, I just drove through Lake Charles last week, saw LDL from a distance, should've gone in. Too bad Lake Charles is such a nasty place: the petrochemical smell is awful. Tripadvisor reviews have been mixed. LDL has a beautify view of the shipyard. :) I'm suprised at the high prices they're charging for rooms, considering the neighborhood....

We drive to Lake Charles and play @ "Isle of Capri" once a month or so. I know some of their room prices seem really high, but there is often a promotion that the dealers mentioned the first time I was there..."play two hours, stay free"...so a rather short session netted several free nights.

With the competition there is, I am wondering if LDL might not have something similar. I have looked at their online rates; they do seem kind of high. Captive audience maybe?

"Isles of Capri" has a lot of bad reviews on TripAdvisor, etc. and Lake Charles is not scenic at all (well, maybe for petrochemical buffs) but it is okay for a quick trip between Vegas excursions!!

Forgive me for being a bit snippy with the thread title. I just felt that L'Auberge was overall a better property than nearly all places in Las Vegas.

When I was there in December, there was double-deck action at $25 minimum. I was told it is typically $50 on the weekends, with a couple $100 & $200 tables in the High Roller section.

The rooms at L'Auberge have a view of the ship channel on one side and the city on the other side. Small boats can dock directly at the hotel. From the pool area, you can't see any of that.

Isle of Capri, on the other hand, has the view and smell of the industrial area along a bridge.

LDL and Isles are both in a rat hole. I guess you can just say LDL is in the nicer part of the rat hole!! It doesn't matter...casinos don't usually have windows and I use my room to sleep. If the dealers are nice and the company is good, I would enjoy playing in either place!!

Anyone been here currently and know what the current minimums are? What about deck penetration?
