I put a lot of play in at The Borgata in AC. I play anywhere from the 50 minimums to the 200 dollar minimums with bets up to 3K depending on how my bankroll is looking and how positive the shoe is.

I currently get hooked up really well comp-wise at The Borgata, but I've heard there is no counterpart in Vegas and it does nothing for me there.

I have a Vegas trip planned for the end of October, and am hoping that I can perhaps call one of the casino's and turn my play level in AC into at least some sort of room deal. I'm particularly interested in The Bellagio or The Wynn, do they have any kind of way to confirm what I say as truth, and hook me up? Or do I have to start at ground zero for a rating in Vegas?

Thanks for any help, or knowledge on getting hooked up in Vegas when you're largely an AC player. (I hate the total choice casino BJ rules, I hope for suggestions besides play at Harrah's)

At that level, ask your Borgata host to make an introduction for you in Vegas. You'll get comped well, the Borgata host will probably get a referral fee from the Vegas property, and the Vegas host will get credit for bringing you in. Everyone wins.

Edit: if you don't already have a host at Borgata, make a relationship with one now. Then have him do the intro in a few weeks.

Yea I haven't really used a host yet, I've only this year raised my play from the 25$ tables. A few 5 figure wins have put me squarely on a decent bankroll. Still haven't used a host, just collecting my free rooms, coffeemakers, matchplays, etc. When I have time.

That'll be nifty if the host can get me a swank deal at a nice Vegas establishment. I'll make sure to go through a host on my next trip. I'm probably going to play in one of their BJ tourneys on the 17th, do this trip through the host, hopefully use said host shortly after that for a Vegas jaunt.

If this works well I owe you an upvote of some sort.

You might not need a Borgata host.

Is your Borgata card Black Label?

Often, casinos will extend all kinds of sign-up bonuses if you show a valid high-level player's card from a competitor's casino. If you've got a Black Label card, just call the Vegas location and ask them. You *may* need to talk to their host, but probably don't need the Borgata host to get involved.

Yea it's a black label, I mean your card goes black pretty fast, from what I can tell.

I was mainly worried that most Vegas casino's would have no clue what a black label card at The Borgata equates to, and would just tell me tough luck trying to bargain for a room.

I guess I could try calling and telling them first, and if that doesn't work route through a host. Not sure the familiarity of Vegas with AC Casino's that aren't in the garbage total choice franchise.

Borgata is a 50% partnership with a Marina ownership and Boyd Gaming. Boyd advertises Borgata as a Boyd property, but I believe that it's not technically a "B Connected" card. Boyd properties are going to put you either in downtown or The Orleans, and does not have a luxury property (That was supposed to be Echelon, but those plans fell through).

As others have said, the host should be able to pull some strings for you. I'd probably go for Wynn, since it's less likely to have a structured point rule (MGM has the M Life card, which is now similar, although not the same, as Total Rewards.) However, Borgata used to have partial ownership with MGM, so perhaps a host would know somebody who could get you into Bellagio.

Frankly, Wynn is a much nicer and friendlier casino. Bellagio is stuffy, the only thing it has going for it is the fact that it's in a prime location.

There are two things you can do, or at least you used to be able to, I don't know if anything has changed in the last year:

1. You can go to card services at the Borgata and cash in any comps you have for "vacation vouchers" which you can use to pay for your room and anything you charge to your room at any MGM-owned hotel in Las Vegas. I've charged meals, spa visits and show tickets (the concierge at my hotel reserved the show tickets and charged them to my room). The key is to only get what you think you'll need since they cannot be converted back to comps. You can get a bunch of different vouchers in different amounts, that way you can save any unused vouchers for a future trip.

2. You can call the East Coast Marketing Office for MGM Resorts to see what they can do for you (it's in Egg Harbor, NJ). Here is a contact you can try: Danette Aiuto, Marketing Representative, 800.646.9144

I hope one of these methods will help!

I set up a ten thousand dollar line of credit at MGM Grand, and was contacted thereafter by a casino host.

Money talks.

I wouldn't worry about it at all....Just put the rooms on your C/C....charge everything to the room....and if you play is what you say it is....when you check out have a host look at your play and im sure your rooms will be comped......I recently went to Vegas and stayed at a property I never stay at....Called ahead....wired my money(15K)......host called me 2 days later....I told him I almost always stay at the GN......And always get taken care of nicely....I'm sure he contacted my host at GN.......The host looked at my play when checking out..... my room bill and meals charged to the room were taken care of (about 1200)......And from what it sounds like my play is less than yours...I was at the MB....it was nice...only stayed there becasue a bunch of friends were....

I think the problem with some of this advice is the method I've been going with so far is perhaps not the usual? I usually bring 5k in cash and see where it goes. Luckily I've caught extremely good variance this year and have taken a 16.1k and a 20k single session win. On top of 4 other smaller but still substantial wins.

So, I haven't had to dip in more than the 5k I bring, although I'm comp'd well, I haven't done some of the common things that get you to those good comps, like wiring money, or having a credit line. I plan to play a tourney up there on the 17th, and I'll route through a host this time. See how that goes for me.

I understand, but just because you set up a credit line, doesn't mean you have to access it all.

I would access a portion of it, though.

Access, five grand and use it to play the way you always play.

Best of both worlds.

True, what kind of juice do they run on it (if any) if you pay the credit line off that weekend?

None.

Don't know what the charge would be, if any, if they had to snap your bank account to get reimbursed, however.

When I've accessed it, I was always able to give it back to them immediately after winding up play.

My point: why bring a whole bunch of cash?

I don't believe there is any charge for casino credit. Each casino sets their own terms (this is true of each Harrah's property) as far as how long you have to pay it back. I think it ranges from 7 days to 30 days.
Always borrow money from a pessimist; They don't expect to get paid back ! Be yourself and speak your thoughts. Those who matter won't mind, and those that mind, don't matter!
