Just got back from a short trip to Tunica. My general impressions:

- The Terrace Hotel (part of Harrah's) was nicer than I was expecting and I would stay there again.

- The sports pub upstairs at Harrah's was a good place to grab a beer and burger. Try the cajun burger, I thought it was excellent. The waitress we had was funny and did a good job.

- Super Bonus Aces at Roadhouse was fun a grind and variance got the best of me. I stopped in there 4 times and was able to get one of the two 99.94 % Super Aces machines three times. I did get 4 aces on one hand, but unfortunately that was playing Jacks or Better at Harrah's.

( THANKS though to the Wiz for having a practice game for this over on WOO ! ! ! )

- It was interesting that the rest of the 25 cent VP paytables at Roadhouse didn't seem very good. So why the disparity ?

- For all the competition down there, I would have expected better JoB and Dueces Wild VP paytables everywhere.

- I was there from Monday to Wednesday, so maybe not exactly a peak time, but it sure seemed like there were at least 2 times more casinos than that market can currently support.

- I don't think I ever saw anyone playing golf, but the courses looked nice.

- The flood level markers outside the River Park museum were also interesting.

- The outlet mall was pretty much deserted, but there was a Haggar's Van Huesen store which can have some good deals from time to time.
There's emptiness behind their eyes There's dust in all their hearts They just want to steal us all and take us all apart

Nice summary.

- Good to hear about the sports pub. Do you know if points are 1 for 2 or 1 for 1 there?

- Hitting the "desired" hand on the wrong game sucks. I hit AAAA3 on deuces wild on Wednesday w/a 3X multiplier...an hour earlier I was playing DDB...grrr

- There used to not be such a disparity. All the game kings for quarters or higher used to have most of the games, but once they started to give away $1M a week at Tunica casinos; they decided to tighten virtually every machine. The old slant-tops had 40/10/6 DDB and 99.96% Deuces too. :( I understand getting rid of 40/10/6 DDB though, they probably made very little offering that game on the units considering DDB is the most popular game. But whatever reason, they left 2 upright units untouched. For two months, VPFree2 didn't even list most of the available "good games". If you found out that 8/5 SA existed because of VPFree2, then you have my condolences for running bad. I was the person that pointed that many games better than 9/6 JoB existed. I'm a bit sad you didn't try some wacky game like Shockwave or All American at Harrah's instead. ;) Horseshoe 9/6 DDB w/Build-A-Wheel? :D

- Competition? Video poker is way more popular in St. Louis than Tunica. Tunica often looks like a graveyard in video poker areas, partly because they don't have many STP or Ultimate X units. Roadhouse does offer 9/6 DDB w/STP and Bally's has 98.91% DW44 w/STP for quarters at least, but even then, they aren't played much. I'm guessing most ppl in Tunica don't care as much about VP.

- There are too many casinos for the area during the week, but traffic is much better on the weekend. Tunica on a Sat. night is a lot more fun than a Tues. night.

- I'm still kicking myself for not bother to play a free round at Cottonwoods when we had promo packages because I kept forgetting to bring my clubs.

- So is the museum worth the $5 or whatever? I have thought about visiting for a timekiller.

- Outlet mall is definitely deserted most of the time, but the g/f demands we go everytime and does occasionally find something. I may also have bought one shirt from Van Heusen there.
