What's weird was last night when I was there, somebody said that someone was shot in one of the downstairs bathrooms either Thursday or early Friday. Didnt see any news of it though.
I did hit a nice GUTshot though. ☺

The Palace of Auburn Hills is supposed to be demolished at some point as well.
Windsor is a decent town. Had some very good middle eastern food for cheap. I tried poutine for the first time. I liked it, especially when the curds melted. But I wasn't blown away.
The nanny state struck immediately, as I learned that menthol cigarettes are ILLEGAL.
Canadian niceness reared its pleasant head immediately as well. Without exaggeration, we were there for 5 minutes, looking around, when a lady pulled up next to us and asked if we were lost and needed directions.
I might be reading too much into it but there seemed to be a carry over of the nanny state mentality into the casino. You weren't supposed to take alcohol into your room. Smoking was very restricted.
While playing poker, went and got a cookie and brought it back to the table. I sat down and was wordlessly dealt out. I guess I looked confused, because the guy next to me said, "you aren't allowed to eat at the table." You also aren't allowed to talk on the phone.
There was this store front, presumably run by the government, where you could go to learn about how gambling worked and get information about addiction. I didn't find this really objectionable, but I don't think they saw much traffic. Manning the store looked like a cushy gig.
One of the greatest MST3K lines was when they were watching an older movie and, speaking of the fashion and so forth, the guy says, "is this America 10 years ago, or Canada today?" This was also true of the poker play. The action was crazy. Mostly lose passive, with people calling off 100+ BBs with top pair, iffy kicker and stuff like that. with regularity. But the rake was $7 and you also got pinched on the exchange rate, if you were buying in American. It was 1/3 with between one and three tables going on weekdays.
The Diamond Lounge was closed both days I was there, which is brutal. I like to see different DLs. What an FU to locals who grind out all those points on bad machines.
The internet told me there was no good VP and I didn't see any, though I wasn't looking too hard. I tried to vulture a slot machine and found that the bonus meter went back to zero much more quickly than anywhere else.
Didn't really look at table games, but the poker dealers were generally quite poor, and they rotated in from other table games. There was a very relaxed attitude, like, when they made mistakes they might say, "oops, I always screw that up," and then just move on. So maybe that carries over to the tables as well.
I was there with my mom and had promised to get us a nice dinner w/ comps. But this was impossible. The steakhouse was also closed and the Italian place didn't take comps. I guess we could have had dinner at Tim Hortons, which charged double if you used rewards credits.
We just at at the Italian place, called Spago, but not Wolfgang Puck's joint. It was pretty good I thought, and reasonably priced.
The rooms were fine and I learned that they had a year round indoor pool.
I'm glad I went and had a fun time, but at the same time this is a place that doesn't have much respect for its patrons. If they are going to run it like this, I don't think they should have used the flagship name. Caesars Palace isn't supposed to be a joint with no fine dining and no diamond lounge. It's more akin to the Cannery or a place like that in those respects, though you do get the Caesars odds.
There are still a few $1 9/6 games scattered around, but no more quarter ones for now.
Quote: IbeatyouracesAnd for those of you that liked playing this game, it got bumped down to 7/5. There was only 1 machine with this pay table and wasn't listed anywhere. So no need to keep it secret.
That's hot.
Even the short-coin pays better than five-coin 9/5 Jacks. Only slightly...but still.

Damn I'm going to miss that game.
Seems like "Jack" is changing everything for the worse.

I'm surprised they didn't when they rearranged that back room.

See it every day.
For the record, the DPD is extorting small businesses to get into the Green Light program.

Yep. I found this article about the "de-Greekifying", as they call it, of Greektown.

There used to be a cool, giant mural above the large escalators in the casino. That's been gone for years too.
The name change to "Jack" is supposed to be happening soon as well.

Quote: IbeatyouracesAll day on Mondays and Fridays in June at Greektown, the Blazing 7's progressives are having the jackpot boosted by $500 on quarter machines and $1500 on dollar ones. That means they start at $750.00 and $2500.00 respectively.
Edit: Found out tonight that it's only one time per machine. Once it hits, the JP resets to the original amount ($250, $1000). Not as good as advertised. Need to play them early.

Yeah it got chilly. Feels good. Just got home and opened windows.
About a 15 minute walk away. Take Monroe to Woodward, swing around Campus Martius to Mich. Ave then go up to Third and make a left.
