Quote: IbeatyouracesRe-Re-Update. They only had the S17 tables there for a blackjack tournament. The entire casino is now H17 execpt high limit.
Yeah I was looking for them recently and they were gone.
I've been doing quite well there recently. The vibe is more relaxed there and the limits are always lower. You can find $10 BJ tables on a Friday night at MotorCity. They go up to $20-$25 at MGM and Greektown. I'm willing to sacrifice Greektown's S17 games in favor of MotorCity's H17 $10 games since I'm a low roller. If I'm gonna lose, I'd rather lose my $100 buy-in over the course of an hour than in 5 minutes after couple bad splits/doubles at Greektown.
And those 9/6 STP DDB machines are addictive like crack.

Tunica got rid of theirs. Damn CET replacing all their machines with generally worse garbage. But the trashiest casino in town still has 98.91% Dueces with STP.
Quote: JohnnyQFor Caesar's Windsor, besides the PICK-EM, does anybody know what the NEXT best Video Poker paytable is at the 25 cent denom ? THANKS
I'll check it out for you when I get there on Friday
They have some really bad pay tables even at $1 level
Quote: coilmanI'll check it out for you when I get there on Friday
Thank-you kindly ! If I recall correctly, the I-Table Blackjack tables were $ 5 at least part of the time, and I thought the rules were reasonable. So maybe that's what I'll do, although I lean towards a decent game of Video Poker IF AVAILABLE.
They've also added side bets to the ones that didn't use to have any. One had a Perfect Pairs bet (same paytable as MotorCity, 6-12-25 but with only four decks in the CSM so it's a much worse bet).
I also saw a side bet very similar to Lucky Ladies on one of their shoe tables, but with pairs of Kings being the goal instead of Queens.

Pray tell good sir, what did thou see ?
Finally found an open spot at one otherwise full table. Ask if the spot is open and the dealer tells me to take a seat. Buy in for my normal $100. It's rough going right from the beginning. Last hand of the shoe I'm dealt a perfect pair, but of course I'm not playing it because... well, yuck. This sets the guy on my left off. He's been playing PP religiously and hasn't even gotten a mixed pair. He starts muttering to the guy on his left about it.
I announce to the table, "I'm here to play blackjack, not the sucker bets." Guy on my left goes crazy. Starts blaming me for the bad shoe because I joined halfway through. My response, "Oh well. Shit happens." This drives him over the edge. He just won't let up. Tells me he hopes I lose all my money. The dealer and one other lady at the table come to my defense, saying that the shoe was bad before I came in and I had nothing to do with it. I appreciated them defending me, but I was content to handle him on my own.
Secretly, deep down, I kind of love when my correct play at a blackjack table pisses off a dumbass like this guy. It only happens in Detroit too. There must be something in the water there that makes BJ players insane. He was just a nasty human being who had clearly had too much to drink. The dealer was giving him looks of disgust the whole time. Whenever I get a guy like this on my left, I relish those tricky hands. The soft 18s, the 12 against a 2 or 3, soft 19 against a 6, etc. The ones that most people play wrong but I always play right, just because it's probably going to seem wrong to him and might piss him off even more. There were a couple of times I hit my soft 18 where I got a card that would have been really good for him and he ended up busting. I LOVE THAT.
Next shoe. I get a few more pairs (one or two more PP even), every time he mutters under his breath to the guy next to him on his left who was playing third base. He doesn't really harass me anymore after that though. Play a few more shoes. I can't get anything going. The table is very choppy. I'm down most of the session. Never even got over my $100 buy in. Finally break even and decide that's a win for the night.
I color up and loudly announce "Well, I'm EVEN. I guess I'll go." I just did this because of him saying he hoped I'd lose everything earlier, and he was WAY down from when I came to the table. He'd had a huge stack of greens and now only had a couple and some reds.
As I left, I wished the table luck, but told him I hope he loses the rest of his chip stack and headed for the cashier.
Ah, Detroit gamblers...
They also put up a no-smoking sign on our table when we asked. I'm finally old enough to avoid the riff-raff :)
Quote: dwheatleyParked at Greektown one night and MGM another and walked to Comerica. New Years Day was a bit of a mess, huge snow storm and volume made the drive in to Ann Arbor long and exciting, good thing we left early. No problems otherwise, and found some good eats around town.
Ugh I live in Ann Arbor and New Years day was indeed a nightmare because of the hockey game. It took the poor pizza guy two hours to get to my apartment because of you people!! He was literally in his car for two hours trying to get to my place which is normally 10 minutes away.
Then video poker killed me.
Got down to my last ~$100 playing 3-play STP DDB and I was totally on tilt so I decided to up it to 5-play. But weirdly, MotorCity's 5 play DDB is 9/5 while their 3 and 10 play games are 9/6 so I upped it to 10 play.
First hand I hit this:
Ended up leaving even for the day.
No more gambling til I'm in Vegas next weekend.

Do any of the other STP games up the paytables with 10-play quarters there? I miss that the Blue Chip used to do this with 9/6 JoB STP at quarters. Other casinos do it too sometimes. Regardless, I would only play one line at quarters since you're allowed. Glad you played 10-lines here though. :)
And that blackjack story reminds me why i'd rather be in front of a machine...lol
Quote: IbeatyouracesI'll look at the machines tomorrow but as far as I know, the 9/6 DDB is their best STP game. We miss the 9/6 JoB STP Spin Poker :-(
Going to be busy the next couple of weeks due to the auto show at Cobo.
Yeah, that's the best VPFree2 lists too, but I would be interested to know if they possibly had 98.91% Deuces w/STP or even 10/6/5 DB. The 98.91% Deuces (99.19% w/STP) is currently the best STP in Tunica (at Bally's) after Tunica Roadhouse got rid of 9/6 DDB. Roadhouse did the opposite of Blue Chip/Motor City. Only the 3 play was 9/6 DDB, the others were 8/5...lol Tons of 7 Star ppl played that game (99.26%) in my presence for hours, usually at 50c or $1 levels, and all three lines of course. Foolish removal by CET, imo, but should we be shocked?
Tyia for the double check.
Speaking of Detroit, what's hard core pawn like? Are the three there usually. I'd love hanging out seeing some crazy going on while eating some popcorn.
Quote: ams288No more gambling til I'm in Vegas next weekend.
Yeah, so that was a lie.
Went to Greektown last night for some blackjack. The new side bet they have on their shoe games is "King's Bounty" with a house edge of 22.5%.
Gross.
I noticed they're advertising "$10 Blackjack, 24/7" now.
I've been there several times when the minimums were $15-$20 with no $10 tables in sight.
I'm guessing that maybe they keep at least one table at $10 all day long now. Makes me wonder how long it will be til they change some of them to 6-5. Cause once a casino starts advertising low table limits, it seems like 6-5 BJ is never far behind.
I had a great session at the MGM on Saturday. I only broke even, but there were these two crazy 20-something girls at my table who made it a blast (I mean "crazy" in the best way possible, not a bad way). Whenever they got a perfect pair they'd get up and start twerking, Miley Cyrus-style. They also played perfect basic strategy, which was surpising. For people who gamble for "the entertainment," they definitely provided it for the table.
Quote: IbeatyouracesDid they double A,8 vs 6 and A, 7 vs 2? Or was it the $25 S17 tables?
I don't think those hands ever came up. lol
And it was just a standard $15 H17 perfect pairs table.
---
Went to the MGM again last night. The 21+3 table was $10 for most of the night while most of the other tables were $20 so that's where I played. It was up and down at first but near the end we had some really good shoes. When the new dealer came in at 8pm we were doing really good. There were some guys betting $50-$100 on the 3 card side bet. Oy vey. The dealer goes, "You guys have just won like 9 hands in a row, why are you pressing the side bet and betting the minimum on BJ?!" I couldn't help but laugh.
I didn't look too closely, but it seems like they got rid of one of their two low limit shoe games and replaced it with a handicap accessible CSM table. They may have just moved it. I don't know.
I noticed a bunch of Blackjack tables now have two betting spots for each player, similar to MotorCity. I wonder if they still expect you to double the minimum to play both spots.
I had a good session at a "King's Bounty" table. Yikes what a sucker bet that is. One guy next to me kept constantly whipping out hundred dollar bills and wasn't hitting anything. He finally got two kings of spades with $10 on the bet, which paid 100-1 for $1000. Of course this convinced everyone at the table that it was this amazing bet and they started pressing. Yeesh.
Quote: IbeatyouracesThey all got downgraded over the last 3-5 days. Only a few Spin Poker machines at the $1 level offer 99%+ games. So unless you are a $1+ player, avoid Motorcity for VP!
Thanks for such a quick reply! That explains it. That's kind of a shame because Motor City seems to have a lot of rewards play offers and point bonus offers that I've yet to see from Greektown. Maybe I can get some mailers from Greektown to help push NSUD or JoB over the EV threshold. Or maybe I didn't do the math right on the coin in at Greektown and I'm in for a lucky surprise tomorrow when I hit the Tigers game. I'm thinking Greektown points were $20 for 1 point and 30 points for $1 cash back. Hard to tell because the machine I was playing wasn't the most innovative points display I've encountered. Might just be wishful thinking to see positive EV in Detroit for VP going forward but once can hope.
Quote: IbeatyouracesYeah, had you hit MC just a few days ago, you would have been able to get the full pay games and watch the slot techs decimate the pay tables. About a week ago, I overheard one of the slot managers say "I can't wait to see the numbers." most likely talking about how much they'll make. I guarantee this, it'll be a lot less!
Windsor still have the good tables on Pick'em? Oh wait they are going to be out on strike end of the week anyways
Quote: IbeatyouracesAbout a week ago, I overheard one of the slot managers say "I can't wait to see the numbers." most likely talking about how much they'll make. I guarantee this, it'll be a lot less!
Sadly, I doubt it. People said the same thing about 6:5 blackjack. Yet the clueless hoards play that all the time.
I was there today. The 9-6 STP DDB game I always used to play is 8-5 now.
And I (stupidly) replied, "I think it's around 2.5%, depending how you play" This set him off. He said because we pay 5% commission on wins, it had to be at least 5% (LOL). I even tried to pull up the WoO site on my phone but had no signal.
Then he asked me what I thought the house edge on blackjack was and I said, "It depends on the rules, but I think most of the games here are around 0.6%." This ALSO set him off. He said I was wrong, and everyone knows it's 1.2% for blackjack. He wouldn't let that go. I kept telling him I KNEW he was dead wrong on that one.
*sigh*
He even came back from break and was STILL lecturing me about it. He said he checked the MGM gambling pamphlet that lists the house edges for the games. I told him we'd have to agree to disagree.
