Hey, I was looking into taking a bus to Mohegan at some point in the future, and according to the website, it comes with two $10 free bets and one $5 free bet. This made me think of a question on the wizardofodds site about free play at Mohegan, where someone mentioned that his coupons were only good for baccarat, sic bo, and big six (!) - does anyone who's taken such a bus know if that's these? (In particular, I'm wondering where one might find a $10 baccarat table...) Anything else I should know? (In particular, does it push?)

if i recall, the free bets at MS CT, are good at:
craps (pass line), blackjack, roulette (red/black),
pai gow tiles, baccarat (player), pai gow poker,
sic bo(big/small), big six

If you like slots, Mohegan Sun has a fascinating promotion. I observed this last Sunday. Every half hour, a trumpet call would be heard throughout the Casino of the Earth (that's where I was so I can't vouch for Casino of the Sky or Casino of the Passing Wind). You could then walk up to any machine and insert your player's club card and then you would be entered into a simulated horse race with 10 horses. I assume that each horse has an equal chance of winning. If you do win, then you get $15 in free slot play.

My other half and I played the same horse and won. He then won $200 from the subsequent free slot play (I got a rock). I thought this was a dilly of a give-a-way but you do have to win the horse race first.

Thanks - and am I right to think they confiscate these on a win (or loss, of course), and give them back on a push? And I wouldn't have to match them, would I?

If that's the case, the best bet is the 10 (or 20, or 40; the higher edge and the longshot advantage exactly cancel in this case) in big six, if that is allowed, but that also carries a high risk of ruin, and my guess would be it's restricted to the 1 there. Either way, not really worth it. The blackjack offers the next-best value assuming you get to keep them on pushes, but would require putting up real money to play effectively. Under the same assumption, baccarat would be next, but that would probably require betting it all at once, which again means a high risk of ruin. So that leaves the pass line, and I've never been there and not seen a $5 craps table, not even on a Friday evening, plus there it doesn't actually matter if they take them on a push, so that seems like the best bet.

Okay, I recently got a (indivisible) $25 free play coupon for unrelated reasons, and was in the area for unrelated reasons - it was good for black or even (no red), big only in sic bo, blackjack (splits and doubles with cash only, natural pays 1:1), and it specifies only even money bets in others (meaning big six). I don't remember exactly the other games were (in particular, I'm beating myself up as to whether Spanish 21 was allowed); should have written it down. Not sure how that works for either pai gow... or if it was on there... dammit.

Since it was indivisible, my first instinct was to put it on baccarat, but apparently all the baccarat tables outside the high roller pits are on the opposite end of the place to the poker room, and between that and the fact that I wasn't (and still am not) sure whether I got to keep the coupon on pushes, it didn't seem worth the trouble, so I just put it on craps (and won). I'm thinking when and if I do take that bus, I'll put one 10 on the pass line, then the other two together if I win, 5-10 if not.
